This morning, Vietnamese shooters participated in the qualifying rounds of two events: Le Thi Mong Tuyen and Nguyen Tam Quang in the 10m air rifle mixed doubles, and Mai Tuan Anh and Tran Khac Dang in the clay pigeon shooting event.

In the 10m mixed doubles air rifle qualifying round, Le Thi Mong Tuyen and Nguyen Tam Quang competed against opponents from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Singapore for ranking points.
At the end of the qualifying round, the two Vietnamese shooters topped the rankings and advanced to the final against the second-placed team, host country Thailand.
In the final, Le Thi Mong Tuyen and Nguyen Tam Quang continued their excellent form to overcome their Thai opponents with a close score of 16-14.
In particular, when the score was 14-14, in the decisive round, Mong Tuyen and Tam Quang hit the bullseye to score the 16th point, thereby taking the lead 16-14 and winning the gold medal.

Shooter Mong Tuyen made the final decisive shot to secure the overall victory.
Mong Tuyen shared after the victory: “Honestly, I felt nervous during the first few rounds. However, I regained my composure when I heard the encouragement from my teammates behind me. This encouragement helped me stay calmer and aim more accurately.”
Immediately after the Vietnamese shooting team's victory, the Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games, Nguyen Hong Minh, congratulated and awarded Mong Tuyen and Tam Quang a bonus of 10 million VND for their gold medal win.

In addition, the President of the Vietnam Shooting Federation, Do Van Binh, decided to award Mong Tuyen and Tam Quang a bonus of 10 million VND for the individual gold medal and 15 million VND for the team gold medal.
Thus, Vietnamese shooting has won its first gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games.
This was also the first gold medal of the day and the 15th for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.
