Apple has officially released iOS 26.2, a major update that brings a host of notable changes to system apps, and also adds a new, often overlooked but very useful notification feature that helps users minimize missing important alerts.

iOS 26.2 continues to expand the user experience with several highlights such as an “Emergency” alarm in the Reminders app, AI-generated podcast episodes, a refined Apple News interface, and the ability to view lyrics offline on Apple Music. In addition, Apple quietly added a new notification-related option in Settings.
For a long time, iOS has allowed users to turn on the camera's LED flash whenever a notification arrives – a feature that effectively assists the hearing impaired and is also popular among many general users. With iOS 26.2, Apple further expands this option by allowing the iPhone screen to automatically flash when a notification arrives.
Users can activate the new feature by going to Settings → Accessibility → Sound & Visuals → Flash for Notifications. Here, in addition to the familiar LED flash option, Apple has added a "Display" option, and even allows combining both to improve notification awareness.

When "Screen Flash" is enabled, each incoming notification will briefly illuminate the iPhone screen before returning to its original brightness. This effect is particularly noticeable if the user doesn't have Always-On Display enabled, making notifications more intuitive and less likely to be missed.
While not everyone needs this feature – especially those who already use an Apple Watch and receive notifications via vibration feedback – for users without a wearable device, the screen blinking option in iOS 26.2 is a worthwhile alternative to the traditional LED flash, being both more discreet and suitable for many everyday situations.
