On the afternoon of June 27, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held a conference to evaluate the results of the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses of the Army in 2025 in both direct and online forms, with the participation of nearly 750 delegates at 48 points throughout the army. Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, chaired the conference.

Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, delivered a speech directing the conference.

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Oanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Affairs (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army), implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, the entire army has so far mobilized and supported funding to build and repair 17,027 houses with a total amount of more than 895 billion VND.

Of which, the Ministry of National Defense directly supported 13 provinces with 11,650 houses, totaling 601 billion VND; directly supported the construction costs of 1,727 houses for officers, professional soldiers, defense workers, and contract workers working in the Army who have housing difficulties, with a total amount of more than 105 billion VND.

Units throughout the army have deployed support to build and repair 3,650 houses with a total amount of over 188 billion VND; of which 2,755 houses were built and 895 houses were repaired.

To improve the quality of each house and reduce construction costs, the Army mobilized over 86,000 officers, soldiers, militia and self-defense forces to participate, with nearly 300,000 working days and over 2,000 vehicles to support localities in building and removing temporary and dilapidated houses.

Colonel Nguyen Van Oanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Affairs, reported on the results of the Army's participation in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025.

In particular, since the Prime Minister 's Official Dispatch 84, under the direction of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics, units throughout the army have made every effort to mobilize maximum human and material resources to help localities in the stationed areas speed up the process of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.

To date, of the 38 provinces and cities that have completed the target of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, 9/13 provinces directly supported by the Army have completed the target, including Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Son La, Lai Chau, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Kon Tum and Ben Tre; 4 provinces are making efforts to complete on time before August 31, 2025, including Nghe An, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Thanh Hoa; at the same time, 100% of agencies and units have reported to the Standing Agency the results of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.

“To effectively implement the movement, units have organized propaganda and mobilized people to participate in the program with more than 10,000 propaganda sessions and the participation of more than 12,000 people, in many different forms; created thousands of news and articles on local specialized pages, columns, and social networks to propagate the results of the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses,” said Colonel Nguyen Van Oanh.

Appreciating the positive results in recent times, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To affirmed that these results have demonstrated that the Army always stands side by side with ministries, sectors, and localities towards better ensuring housing for households with housing difficulties, demonstrating the revolutionary nature that comes from the people, is closely attached to the people, contributing to creating consensus and driving force to promote the country's socio-economic development.

Noting that this is the "sprint" stage to be able to complete the goal early according to the Government's requirements, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To requested that agencies and units focus on doing a good job of propagating and making profound changes in the awareness, tasks and responsibilities of Party committees, political commissars, political officers, commanders, political agencies at all levels and officers and soldiers towards the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister.

The Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army also requested agencies and units to closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities in the area to review tasks and supplement plans, especially after implementing the two-level local government from July 1, 2025 to accelerate progress, determined to complete the goals set by the Government, especially localities directly supported by the Ministry of National Defense and supporting units in the area that have not completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses to complete the goal before August 31, 2025.
