Quang Ngai proposes Dak Drinh Hydropower Plant to soon complete flood avoidance road

(QNgTV) - The Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ngai province has just issued a document requesting Dak Drinh Hydropower Joint Stock Company, the investor of Dak Drinh Hydropower Plant, to urgently repair and fix the road to avoid flooding in the reservoir of branch 1 of the hydropower plant.

Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ngai province requires the investor to report in detail the contractor selection plan, contract, construction progress, implementation plan and deadline for completion, acceptance and handover of the project to the locality in 2025. If it is necessary to adjust the timeline, the company must have a written explanation, along with solutions to ensure public safety during the construction process.

While the contractor has not been selected, the investor must mobilize human resources and equipment to temporarily fix unsafe items and ensure traffic during the rainy season. If the requirements are not met, the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ngai province will report to the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for consideration and handling; at the same time, the investor must be responsible for any damage caused by the delay.

Previously, on September 12, the People's Committee of Mang But commune proposed to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province to request the investor to immediately implement the construction of the flood avoidance road branch 1 in September 2025 and determine the time to hand over the project to local management to ensure safety before the flood season.

This is the “lifeline” connecting the commune center with the villages of Dak Tieu, Dak But, Dak Lang, Kip La, Dak Ang, serving the travel of 225 households. Although the Dak Drinh Hydropower Plant has been in operation for more than 10 years, the flood avoidance project has not yet been accepted and handed over; many sections are seriously degraded, posing a potential danger to the people.

Dak Drinh Hydropower Plant has a capacity of 125 MW, started construction in 2009, stored water since October 2013 and has been generating commercial electricity for many years, but to date the road to avoid flooding in the reservoir has not been completed, causing great difficulties for people to travel and transport goods.
