Urgently protect irrigation works from heavy rain and storm No. 11

QNgTV- In the face of the complicated developments of storm No. 11 - storm MATMO, the Department of Irrigation Works Management and Construction has just sent an urgent telegram to the provinces and cities in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, requesting them to proactively respond to the risk of heavy rain, flooding and waterlogging.

According to forecasts, from the night of October 5 to the end of October 7, this area will have very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 100-200mm, in some places over 300mm; in mountainous and midland areas of the North it could reach up to 400mm.

The Department requires localities to strengthen inspection and review of the safety of irrigation works, especially reservoirs; urgently operate buffer water discharge, prepare flood prevention plans, arrange 24/7 duty forces and be ready to handle incidents according to the "four on-site" motto.

The telegram also emphasized early warning to people in downstream areas before releasing floodwaters, in order to minimize damage.
