Quang Ngai modern fishing boats, reaching out to the open sea

(QNgTV) - With the attention of the Party, State and local authorities, Quang Ngai fishermen have recently boldly invested and gradually modernized their fishing fleet to go offshore for long periods of time. This is not only an important step in production, but also affirms the province's determination in the strategy of developing the marine economy, contributing to protecting the sovereignty of the sacred sea and islands.

Quang Ngai province strongly shifts from small fleet to large capacity ships

In recent years, Quang Ngai province has focused on a strong shift from small fleets to large-capacity vessels, with investment from design, construction to launching and modern exploitation organization. This change not only contributes to reducing the pressure on coastal exploitation, restoring natural aquatic resources, but also helps fishermen exploit more effectively in offshore fishing grounds.

Currently, the whole province has about 5,000 fishing boats, with a total capacity of more than 1.8 million CV. Of which, over 3,000 boats are 15 meters or longer, capable of going offshore in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. Annual output reaches over 280,000 tons, an average increase of more than 2%/year. In particular, many fishermen, thanks to applying modern technology and linking production teams at sea, have an income of nearly 200 million VND/person/year. These united teams and groups for fishing at sea have become a solid support, helping fishermen support each other when encountering problems, contributing to enhancing community strength and minimizing risks on each sea trip.

Quang Ngai is among the leading countries in offshore fishing capacity, with a modern steel and composite hull fleet reaching large fishing grounds such as Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. Large vessels, equipped with modern machinery and monitoring systems, help extend operating time, increase fishing output and reduce costs, thereby improving fishermen's income. Fishing distances are expanded but fishermen are better protected thanks to monitoring equipment and strict guidance, minimizing violations of international law. Medical equipment on board ensures fishermen's health during long sea voyages, improving labor safety at sea. Fishermen are increasingly mastering technology, complying with the law and developing fisheries in a sustainable direction.

The modern ships that set sail one after another not only carry the expectation of a full catch of fish, but also the will and aspiration of Quang Ngai fishermen to go offshore. That achievement is an important highlight in the picture of marine economic development, creating a solid foundation for making the marine economy a driving force for the development of Quang Ngai province in the new journey.
