Quang Ngai province commences and inaugurates 4 infrastructure projects worth nearly 32,000 billion VND.

Quang Ngai province is simultaneously implementing four key projects, most notably the Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon expressway and the Hoa Phat rail steel plant, with a total investment of nearly 32,000 billion VND.

On the morning of December 19th, Quang Ngai province, in coordination with relevant units, organized a series of groundbreaking and inauguration events for four key infrastructure projects. The total investment value of these projects reached nearly 32,000 billion VND, playing a crucial role in completing the transportation network and promoting supporting industries in the Central region.

Highway inaugurated and construction commenced on public infrastructure projects.

Among these projects, the Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon expressway project was officially inaugurated. This project, managed by Project Management Board 2 ( Ministry of Construction ), has a total investment of over 20,400 billion VND. The 88km long route passes through Quang Ngai province (60.3km) and Gia Lai province (27.7km), creating a vital inter-regional transportation artery.

Simultaneously, the province also commenced the Southern Tra Khuc River Basin Rainwater and Wastewater Collection and Treatment System Project with an investment of approximately 1,000 billion VND and the Dung Quat Economic Zone Transportation Infrastructure Upgrade Project worth 350 billion VND.

A 10 trillion VND rail steel project to serve the high-speed railway.

The highlight of this groundbreaking ceremony is the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Rail and Special Steel Manufacturing Plant. The project, with a total investment of over 10,000 billion VND, is being implemented on an area of ​​nearly 15 hectares in Van Tuong commune, within the Dung Quat Economic Zone. The plant has a designed capacity of 700,000 tons per year, focusing on high-quality steel products serving the railway and energy sectors.

Mr. Mai Van Ha, Director of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Special Steel and Rail Joint Stock Company, said that the company is focusing its efforts on implementation to bring products to market by the first quarter of 2027. The main goal of the factory is to supply rail steel for the North-South high-speed railway project and other key national projects, helping to reduce dependence on imported goods.

Currently, Hoa Phat is ready in terms of technology and human resources to master the rail steel production process. The government's issuance of special mechanisms for railway projects is seen as an important leverage for domestic enterprises to participate deeply in the national infrastructure supply chain.

Expectations for an economic breakthrough from the Dung Quat Economic Zone.

Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Hoang Giang, highly appreciated the importance of special steel projects in replacing imports and proactively securing strategic material sources. After 9 years of operation in the locality, Hoa Phat has invested in 7 projects in Dung Quat with a total capital of over 185,000 billion VND, making a significant contribution to the budget and providing jobs for approximately 18,000 local workers.

This new project is expected to create a ripple effect, attracting more supporting industries and improving the province's GRDP. Provincial leaders are committed to providing maximum support in terms of legal procedures, land clearance, and technical infrastructure to ensure the project is completed on schedule by 2027.
