Quy Chau - New history, new strength in integration and development

Over the past 610 years of its name (1415-2025), the Party Committee, government and people of Quy Chau district have always promoted the tradition of revolutionary heroism, dynamism, creativity, solidarity and unity, achieving many important achievements in various fields, becoming a bright spot of the Northwest region of Nghe An in the journey of integration and development.

Quy Chau is located in Phu Quy economic zone, the center of the Northwest of Nghe An; to the East it borders Nghia Dan district and Nhu Xuan district (Thanh Hoa), to the West it borders Tuong Duong district, to the South it borders Con Cuong and Quy Hop districts, to the North it borders Que Phong district and Thuong Xuan district (Thanh Hoa).

Through many research documents of scientists , in the summer of the 13th year of Yongle (ie May 13, 1415), in Giao Chi, Dien Chau prefecture, the Ming Dynasty government of the Ming Chengzu period established Chau Quy; the name Chau Quy or Quy Chau as a Chau-level administrative unit officially appeared. Through many ups and downs of history, this land has many other names, the administrative boundaries have changed many times. From the name Chau Quy or Quy Chau and today is Quy Chau district.

Throughout that historical journey, the ethnic people of Quy Chau have always accompanied the people of Nghe An and the people of the whole country, making worthy contributions to the heroic struggle to build and defend the country of our people.

Especially in the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, the whole district had nearly 4,400 people who contributed to the revolution, including 270 martyrs; 180 wounded and sick soldiers; 01 collective was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; 12 mothers were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, hundreds of officers and soldiers of the district's armed forces were awarded noble Medals and Emblems by the Party and State.

Through 610 years of ups and downs of history, like the children of Vietnam, the people of Quy Chau have had to face many difficulties, challenges, and hardships, which is an inevitable rule. However, with their minds and talents, under the leadership of the Party and the government, the people of Quy Chau have united in overcoming difficulties, resolving challenges, and making efforts with great determination to bring Quy Chau district to the heights of innovation and integration.

The economy has grown quite well, with an average growth rate of 10% in the 2021-2025 period; the economic structure has shifted in the right direction, reducing the proportion of agriculture and forestry, increasing the proportion of industry, construction and services; planning and building an eco-tourism area associated with protecting and developing indigenous forests on Ke Le slope.

Promote the application of science and technology and mechanization in production; the local budget revenue is quite good, the average income per capita increased from 16.2 million VND in 2015 to 40.7 million VND in 2025; the budget revenue increased from 24.1 billion VND in 2015 to 45 billion VND in 2025; develop production and business activities with 10 agricultural cooperatives, 06 craft villages, 03 craft villages, 15 farms, 116 households; announce 17 OCOP products. By the end of 2024, the district has 02 communes meeting new rural standards, contributing to socio-economic development.

From a rural area with many difficulties, the transportation system has been constantly improved, upgraded and expanded to meet the needs of the people. Infrastructure has been invested in and built.

From 2021 to 2024, the district has started investing and constructing 176 projects with a total value of nearly 695 billion VND, including many key projects and works contributing to accelerating economic and social development such as: Hieu River embankment, phase 1 lakeside tourist route, Chau Tien bridge, Chau Thang bridge, Chau Binh bridge, Tong Son bridge, district stadium, Museum of Culture of Western Nghe An ethnic groups, cultural works at Hoa Tien community tourism site and works under the Mong village reservoir project...

State management in the fields of culture, sports and tourism has received attention and direction. The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" has developed widely, positively affecting the lives of the people and the whole society. In the whole district, 100% of villages, hamlets and blocks have effectively implemented the convention; The rate of cultural families reached 88.6%; the rate of cultural villages, hamlets and blocks reached 90.5%.

The quality of comprehensive education is increasingly improved; school facilities continue to receive investment; the rate of excellent students at all levels increases every year, making the district one of the leading mountainous districts with many excellent students in the province; the rate of schools meeting national standards is 94.5%. The quality of medical examination and treatment is increasingly improved, 100% of communes and towns meet the National Health Standards.

On the journey of development, promoting the value of nature and history, many attractive tourist destinations have emerged in the district, creating a value chain from the smokeless industry. The names of land, villages, mountains, and rivers have become investment destinations, attractive tourist destinations attracting visitors from all over the world such as: Hang Bua Scenic Relic Site, Tomb - Apple Tree of Doc Binh Lang Van Thiet, Hoa Tien Provincial Community Tourism Site...

Quy Chau is also famous for its famous culinary specialties such as: natural honey, mu tun wine, Pu Huong green lim mushroom wine; yellow flower tea; beef jerky, buffalo jerky, Chinese sausage, bamboo shoots salted with garlic and chili.

With proud achievements in each historical period, Quy Chau district was honored with many worthy titles and awards such as:

Third-class Labor Medal from the President in 2015; Government Emulation Flag in 2020, 2023; 02 Certificates of Merit from Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in 2020.

In particular, in 2025, the district was honored and proud to receive the Second Class Labor Medal from the President for its outstanding achievements in exploiting potentials and strengths, developing forest economy and tourism, improving people's lives in the area, contributing to the socio-economic development of the district.

In the coming time, the name of the administrative unit of Quy Chau district will no longer exist, but in the minds of generations of people, the name of Quy Chau district will forever exist and be associated with the names of mountains and rivers and will be included in immortal songs, valuable literary works and cultural, architectural and historical works. Then, 4 administrative names at the commune level were formed: Quy Chau, Chau Tien, Hung Chan and Chau Binh. Those good traditions will be constantly and forever promoted and nurtured.

Continuing to be worthy of the title of Quy Chau with a history of more than 6 centuries - a title containing the mindset of innovation and openness; will, strategic vision, aspiration, development and prosperity, meeting the expectations of the people of the district and the expectations of the country.

Naming “Quy Chau commune” will contribute to preserving the long-standing cultural traditions of the ancient land; building a modern, dynamic image for a developing area, creating a distinct mark while still retaining the “Quy Chau” quality. Quy Chau retains its original name, inheriting the culture and history of a “legendary ancient land”, continuing the 610-year tradition of “Quy Chau Name”.
