This latest version of the standard, effective from April 30, 2026, has been revised, supplemented, and perfected based on the previous QCVN 01:2022. The ultimate goal of this upgrade is to establish a truly clear, detailed, and modern technical standards system for biofuels circulating domestically.

According to the core content of the Standard, E10 gasoline is precisely defined as a mixture of unleaded gasoline combined with fuel ethanol, bearing the designation E10. The key point that is most strictly controlled by the authorities is that the ethanol content in this type of gasoline must be within the limit of 8% to 10% by volume. Not stopping at the alcohol ratio, QCVN 01:2026/BKHCN also specifies in great detail technical parameters including oxygen content, metal limits, and a series of other basic quality indicators. These parameters aim to ensure that the fuel, when burned, will meet the requirements for smooth operation and absolute safety for the engine.

Affirming the safety of this new energy product line, Dr. Dao Duy Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion under the Ministry of Industry and Trade , made very strong statements. Dr. Dao Duy Anh emphasized that the quality management standard system in Vietnam is currently established and operated very strictly. People have every reason to be confident when refueling their vehicles, because a product cannot be allowed to circulate on the market without passing the strict technical barriers stipulated by state agencies. At the same time, petroleum businesses are required to strictly comply with the inspection and quality management process to ensure that products reaching consumers always meet all technical requirements. Dr. Dao Duy Anh also added that many in-depth studies both domestically and internationally have consistently shown that the fuel consumption and negative impacts of E10 gasoline on machinery systems are negligible.

Businesses involved in the petroleum industry are required to strictly adhere to quality control and management procedures to ensure that products reaching consumers always meet all technical requirements.

From an international perspective, the presence of E10 gasoline is not a risk-taking experiment. This product has been proven effective through its long history of practical use in numerous developed countries worldwide. These include economic powerhouses and neighboring countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, the Philippines, and Thailand. In these countries, E10 has long been accepted as a basic standard fuel widely available at gas stations. The core benefit that makes this type of gasoline favored globally is its ability to significantly reduce harmful emissions that pollute the environment, while simultaneously helping countries reduce their risky dependence on traditional fossil fuels.

The safety and transparency of the standards have been vividly demonstrated through feedback from the first consumers who directly experienced them. Ms. Nguyen Tuyet, a female office worker living in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "Initially, I was a little worried about switching to E10, but after a period of actual use, the car still runs well, starts smoothly, and the steering wheel doesn't vibrate." Ms. Tuyet also noticed that shifting gears and releasing the accelerator to roll is smoother, and after more than half a year of using E10, the car has never encountered any technical problems. Similarly, Mr. Minh, a ride-hailing driver in Ho Chi Minh City who travels constantly, said that he was quite hesitant at first, but after trying it out, he found the car to run very stably.
