Following the resounding success of the first VinFuture Award, which honored four groundbreaking scientific works with positive impacts on human life on a global scale, the second season of VinFuture has been launched amidst the anticipation of the international scientific community.
The theme of the second VinFuture season is to honor inventions and initiatives that promote the reconstruction of life after the pandemic and sustainable development. This reflects VinFuture's consistent vision and mission of "Science serving humanity." If protecting health was the challenge facing humanity in 2021, then "Reconstruction and Revival" is the urgent issue the world must confront in 2022.
Therefore, the second season of VinFuture focuses on "Reconstruction and Revival," hoping to motivate and inspire scientists worldwide. Through the award, VinFuture aims to contribute to the global effort to address pressing post-pandemic issues, bringing about a positive impact on the lives of millions of people this year.
Speaking about the second VinFuture Awards season, Professor Sir Richard Henry Friend - Chairman of the VinFuture Awards Council, said: "The first season recognized the global benefits and achievements of cutting-edge science in protecting human health. However, humanity still faces many other challenges such as improving the quality of life, combating climate change, and increasing labor productivity after disruptions... With this year's awards, we want to go further, spreading the value and influence of the VinFuture Awards wider, in many fields to many new lands with the mission of reviving the world after the pandemic.”

To participate in the 2022 season, nominated projects must fully meet the nomination criteria and be nominated through reputable organizations and individuals in science and technology worldwide. Nominated projects will be evaluated through a screening and selection process by the VinFuture Preliminary Judging Panel and the VinFuture Award Council, comprised of prestigious scientists, many of whom hold prestigious awards such as the Nobel, Turing, and Millennium Prizes.
Professor Dang Van Chi, Scientific Director of the Ludwig Cancer Research Institute, USA, and a member of the VinFuture Award Council, expressed his expectations: “To have more inventions and innovations that change people's lives this year, we hope to receive outstanding scientific solutions from more diverse fields, from more countries, created by scientists regardless of age, gender, origin, skin color, or ethnicity… with the potential for large-scale application.”
