Take decisive action to combat counterfeit goods and trade fraud.

Officers from Market Management Team No. 8 are intensifying market inspections and controls.

Team No. 8 of the Market Management Department is assigned to manage the area of 11 communes in the former Vinh Tuong and Yen Lac districts. This is a vibrant and complex commercial area, with Tho Tang commune being the key hub – a major wholesale and distribution center for goods in the North.

Although most imported goods here have legal invoices and documents when cleared through the Lao Cai, Lang Son , and Quang Ninh border gates, once they reach Tho Tang, the goods are quickly broken down into smaller quantities for numerous businesses. Notably, some individuals have exploited loopholes, using fraudulent invoice manipulation to evade detection, creating significant obstacles for authorities in inspecting and tracing the origin of goods.

Besides traditional methods, commercial fraud is now shifting strongly into the digital space. Fraudsters are creating websites and live-streaming sales openly on platforms like Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok. Counterfeit goods bearing major brands (Adidas, Nike, Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, etc.) are collected from wholesale markets in Ninh Hiep and Dong Xuan ( Hanoi ), stored in hidden warehouses within residential areas, and distributed via express delivery services. This is creating significant difficulties in identifying locations for inspection and prosecution.

In response to this situation, Market Management Team No. 8 proactively implemented many decisive solutions. In the first five months of 2026, pressure from global geopolitical fluctuations pushed up gasoline and gas prices, leading to the risk of hoarding and withholding sales for profit in some neighboring areas.

Team No. 8 of the Market Management Department has increased the frequency of surprise inspections and closely monitored all gas stations in its jurisdiction. At the same time, it has required business owners to strictly adhere to price listing regulations, sell at the correct price, and sign commitments not to hoard or speculate. As a result, no violations related to this strategic commodity have occurred in the area, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and the stability of people's production activities.

Alongside rectifying the situation regarding petroleum products, Market Management Team No. 8 launched a simultaneous operation across all other essential goods sectors. Mr. Bui Thanh Tung, Team Leader of Market Management Team No. 8, stated: "The team closely monitors market developments, strictly manages its area, and coordinates with other functional forces in the area to inspect and severely punish acts of trading smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods, and infringing intellectual property rights."

The team also intensified surprise inspections of the production and sale of substandard food and food containing hazardous residues; focusing on monitoring e-commerce activities to strictly handle online sales that violate the law. At the same time, the unit proactively propagated and encouraged organizations and individuals to sign commitments to strictly comply with legal regulations.

Since the beginning of the year, Market Management Team No. 8 has conducted 14 inspections, detecting and handling 11 cases of violations of commercial laws. The total amount of administrative fines collected and remitted to the state budget is over 100 million VND. Authorities have confiscated and destroyed infringing goods worth nearly 65 million VND.

In the coming period, Market Management Team No. 8 is determined to innovate its methods of market inspection and control. The focus will be on promoting digital transformation and applying information technology in all operational processes; and continuing to effectively operate the electronic administrative violation processing system to optimize transparency and accuracy.

The team will strengthen monitoring in the e-commerce environment, proactively filter information, and coordinate with network operators and shipping companies to disrupt online counterfeit supply chains.

In addition to punitive measures, the unit is placing greater emphasis on communication efforts to equip consumers with the knowledge to identify genuine and counterfeit goods. This will create a smooth information flow, encouraging the public to proactively report violations and work together with authorities to build a transparent and healthy market.
