Artist Tran Thanh Thuc shares the story of creating fabric paintings.
This is a series of art exchange and talk programs initiated and periodically organized by the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum between artists and the public, where unique creative journeys of contemporary Vietnamese art are shared, aiming to introduce to the public the unique creative journeys of contemporary Vietnamese artists. Each Art Talk is a different stop on the art map, where the public can listen, dialogue and feel the creative spirit through the artist's own story.
The first Art Talk in the opening series of programs with the theme: "Tran Thanh Thuc - Quietly a stream of fabric paintings", introduces to the public the persistent and delicate artistic journey of artist Tran Thanh Thuc, who has spent more than 4 decades persistently creating with fabric paintings - a visual language that is both classical and modern but rarely chosen.
Artist Tran Thanh Thuc was born in 1960, from Nam Dinh (now Ninh Binh). Graduated from Hanoi College of Fine Arts (now Hanoi University of Fine Arts). She is one of the pioneers of fabric painting and has been involved in this genre for 45 years. Using pieces of fabric with different colors, she has created a unique, quiet but profound artistic style with works that are not only poetic and expressive, but also show a constant search for visual thinking and visual structure.
In that quiet world of art, each of her works is a harmony between poetry, expressive depth and imaginative visual structure. Through the talk, the audience will discover the process of creating fabric paintings - from initial inspiration, visual composition to material processing techniques as a means of personal artistic expression...
Artist Tran Thanh Thuc demonstrates and performs some steps in the process of creating artwork from fabric.
In this exchange program, artist Tran Thanh Thuc shared with the public about the fate that brought her to fabric painting, about her 40-year journey of attachment and passion for fabrics to create unique and distinctive works of art; about the difficulties in her journey of searching and creating art, about the joy of successfully "transforming" scattered pieces of fabric into unique works of art, which are well received by the public...
At the program, the audience also witnessed artist Tran Thanh Thuc perform and manipulate some steps in the process of creating works of art from fabric.
Sharing at the program, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Anh Minh said that the Art talk series "Art paths" was organized with the desire to exploit the life stories and career stories of people who dare to embark and create success on their artistic path. After this program introducing fabric paintings, the following programs will introduce to the public other unique painting genres such as sand paintings, gemstone paintings, rice paintings, etc.
The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum hopes that Art Talk will become a creative bridge between artists and the public, a place to nurture love of art, stimulate dialogue and spread profound aesthetic values in contemporary life. This is also part of the Museum's efforts to bring art closer to the community, through authentic, vivid and humane forms of experience.
