On July 24, after the Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper published the news "Heavy rain and strong winds, trees fell in series, crushing many cars in Ho Chi Minh City", the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a document conveying the direction of Vice Chairman Bui Xuan Cuong on urgently handling and preventing the risk of falling trees.

Accordingly, the Department of Construction is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the City Green Parks and Trees Company Limited and related units to conduct a general review of the urban green tree system, especially old trees with large trunk diameters on main roads, in residential areas, schools, hospitals, etc. to make a list, prune or replace them according to authority.
In addition, the Department of Construction needs to review the process of planting, caring for, inspecting and pruning trees to proactively prevent risks during the rainy and stormy season. Major traffic routes at risk of falling trees will be assessed to arrange warnings and timely traffic diversion when incidents occur.

Tree maintenance forces are required to be on duty, quickly overcome consequences, and clean up fallen trees when there is extreme weather.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for updating meteorological and hydrological data and coordinating the provision of early warning information to relevant units.
The People's Committees of wards, communes and Con Dao special zone need to increase inspections and coordinate with local forces to promptly handle trees showing signs of danger. At the same time, it is necessary to step up propaganda and advise people not to stop, park or take shelter under large trees during thunderstorms.
