Rob Brouwer, Miao YunChao, Rustam Bzhekshiev... praised the romantic scenery along the Hue race route, where they could admire many ancient landmarks.

At 4:45 AM on April 21st, Rob Brouwer and other athletes began their 10km race at the VnExpress Marathon Hue 2024. This was his fifth time running in Vietnam, but his first time in Hue. The runner, who is over 70, is very proud of himself for completing the challenging course in the hot weather.

Upon receiving his medal from the organizers, Brouwer was deeply moved. He praised Hue's beauty, noting that the smooth course allowed him to comfortably admire the city while running. The only obstacle that made this runner feel a little tired was the high temperature. The sun rose at 5 am, causing him and many others to quickly lose energy and sweat profusely.

Towards the end, Brouwer decided to finish early, increasing his speed with longer strides. He completed the 10km in 56 minutes and 28 seconds, finishing fourth in the over-60 age group. Last month, Brouwer also conquered the Ho Chi Minh City Night Race, also in the 10km distance.

Next June, Brouwer will be visiting VM Quy Nhon again. He also really likes this coastal city because of its delicious seafood, beautiful beaches, and friendly people.

Like Brouwer, Miao YunChao (37 years old, China) is impressed with Hue. The runner currently lives and works in Hanoi, but runs the marathon in Hue every year. Yun Chao loves the ancient charm, cuisine , culture, and architecture of the former imperial capital.

Last year alone, he visited Hue four times, both for work and to participate in races, and he never got tired of it. YunChao had previously attempted a full marathon but the result wasn't as good as he hoped, so this year he only registered for a half marathon. He finished in 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 14 seconds.

Russian runner Rustam Bzhekshiev exceeded expectations, finishing in the top 3 of his age group in the 21km race. He completed the half marathon in just 1 hour, 25 minutes, and 33 seconds. Hue was his first marathon. Previously, Rustam specialized in trail running. He had participated in races in Da Lat, Moc Chau, and other locations, consistently achieving good results.

Evaluating the quality of the Hue Marathon, Rustam said that the organization, security, and course design were professional. As it was his first marathon, it left a deep impression. The beautiful medal was also a plus, leading the Russian runner to plan to return to the Hue Marathon next year.

The VnExpress Marathon Hue 2024 kicked off on the morning of April 21st, with the participation of 8,000 runners. This is the first year that all four distances will traverse ancient, historically significant routes around the Hue Citadel area, such as Yet Kieu, Dang Thai Than, and Doan Thi Diem streets, starting from the very first kilometers.

After Hue, the VnExpress Marathon will continue to Quy Nhon (June), Da Nang (July), Nha Trang (August), Ha Long (September), Hanoi (November), and Hai Phong (December). See details and purchase your Bib here.
