Vietnamese Runners Shine Brightly in Hanoi

More than 13,000 athletes from 55 countries competed on the streets of Hanoi, closing the 4th International Marathon season with the victory of Kure Ebisa Takele (Ethiopia) and the impressive performance of Vietnamese runners.

The 4th Hanoi International Marathon ended with brilliant results.

On October 5, the 4th edition of the Hanoi International Marathon ended with a resounding success, attracting more than 13,000 athletes from 55 countries and territories to participate in four distances: 42.195 km, 21.1 km, 10 km and 5 km. Notably, the number of runners registering for the half marathon accounted for more than 30%, showing the strong influence of the Vietnamese sports movement.

On the 42.195km course, the race was exciting until the last minute when Kure Ebisa Takele (Ethiopia) finished first with a time of 2 hours 29 minutes 34 seconds. Athletes Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Huynh Anh Khoi brought pride to the host country when they came in third and fourth respectively.

In the women's category, Vietnamese athletes showed their superior strength when they took all five leading positions, in which Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa continued to affirm her class with a time of 2 hours 54 minutes 19 seconds.

In the Vietnam Marathon Open category, Pham Tien San and Hoang Huong Thuy won the men's and women's categories, respectively. "More than winning, the most meaningful thing is witnessing the strong development of the Vietnamese running movement," Pham Tien San shared after winning the title.

Closing the tournament, the Organizing Committee honored 101 outstanding athletes in each category, creating an emotional moment of honor - a testament to the tenacity, will to overcome limits and desire to conquer of the Vietnamese runner community.
