On September 17th, in Hanoi, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, chaired a conference to review the experience of establishing the 12th Army Corps.

Delegates attending the Conference to review the experience of establishing the 12th Army Corps.

Through the implementation of the organization and staffing of the 12th Army Corps, the process of training, combat readiness, building a regular army, and the results of exercises, the organization of a "lean, efficient, and strong" army corps has been affirmed as a correct, scientific , and practical policy of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. Immediately after its establishment, the Army Corps demonstrated its strength, mobility, command capabilities, and coordinated combat skills of officers at all levels, as well as its ability to successfully complete combat missions under high-tech warfare conditions.

After nearly a year of consolidation, the 12th Army Corps has overcome initial difficulties, gradually stabilized, and successfully completed all assigned tasks. All agencies and units within the Corps have strictly maintained discipline and combat readiness, organized patrols and guard duties, and ensured the safety of targets, especially during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and important events of the Party and State.

The Corps has proactively developed, adjusted, and strengthened combat readiness, flood and storm prevention, and search and rescue systems according to new plans at all levels; coordinated with localities on plans and tasks for responding to incidents, natural disasters, and search and rescue; and proactively practiced plans for transitioning to combat readiness.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong delivered a speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong instructed the functional agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense to evaluate, learn from, and overcome the shortcomings in the process of establishing the 12th Army Corps in order to effectively apply them to the establishment of the 34th Army Corps. This includes focusing on consolidating Party organizations and mass organizations to ensure that all activities of the 34th Army Corps are not interrupted. Functional agencies should implement the procedures and regulations correctly according to the hierarchical levels for the deployment, appointment, and rotation of cadres; ensuring that the Corps' cadre, non-commissioned officers, and technical specialists have sufficient quantity and quality after establishment. In particular, it is necessary to effectively implement policy work, especially addressing the issue of surplus cadres and cadres exceeding the age limit for planning, in accordance with regulations.
