According to Sammy Fans , despite losing the contract to produce the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip to TSMC, Samsung is said to be working with Qualcomm to develop a prototype Snapdragon 8 Elite 3 chip with an advanced 2nm process for the Galaxy S27.

Samsung will join hands with Qualcomm to produce Snapdragon 8 Elite 3 chip?
According to a report from TheBell , Qualcomm has asked Samsung to develop the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3 prototype, which is expected to launch in the second half of 2026. This is good news for Samsung's Foundry division, after consecutive failures to win orders to produce Snapdragon chips from Qualcomm, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 that will be equipped on the Galaxy S26.
If this information is correct, Samsung will have the opportunity to 'take revenge' and affirm its chip manufacturing capacity. The successful development of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3 prototype on the 2nm process will be an important step, helping Samsung attract more customers and compete with TSMC, the world's leading chip manufacturer.
Currently, Samsung is focusing on commercializing the 2nm process, which is expected to be deployed at the Taylor factory (USA) in 2026. This is also the time when the Galaxy S27 is expected to launch, with the hope of being equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3 chip produced by Samsung itself.
The recent approval of subsidies for Samsung by the US government under the CHIPS Act is also seen as a favorable factor, promoting cooperation between Samsung and Qualcomm.
However, everything is still just a rumor. Can Samsung score points with Qualcomm and regain its position in the chip manufacturing market? The answer will be in the near future.
