
Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh has just issued a decision approving the adjustment of the planning of Gia Binh International Airport (Bac Ninh province) for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Accordingly, in the period 2021-2030, Gia Binh Airport will have a capacity of about 30 million passengers/year and 1.6 million tons of cargo/year. The types of aircraft in operation include: B747, B777, B787, A380, A350, A321 and other special and specialized aircraft.
In the 2021-2030 period, the 07R/25L runway in the Northern region with a size of 3,500x45m and the 06L/24R runway in the Southern region with a size of 4,000x45m are planned, about 1,800m away from the 07R/25L runway. Plan a parallel taxiway to the South of the 07R/25L runway, a parallel taxiway to the North of the 06L/24R runway; plan a system of connecting taxiways and synchronous quick-exit taxiways to connect the parallel taxiway with the runway and the apron.
Vision to 2050, this airport has a capacity of about 50 million passengers/year and 2.5 million tons of cargo/year. This phase plans runway 07L/25R with dimensions of 3,500x45m, about 366m north of runway 07R/25L; runway 06R/24L with dimensions of 3,650x45m, about 366m south of runway 06L/24R.
In addition, the plan includes additional parallel taxiways between the two runways in the Northern region and between the two runways in the Southern region; and a system of connecting taxiways and synchronous quick-exit taxiways to connect the parallel taxiways with the runways.
The Ministry of Construction approved the land use demand for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, of Gia Binh International Airport of about 1,960 hectares.
Gia Binh International Airport is oriented to connect with the expressway from Hanoi Capital to Gia Binh Airport and Hai Phong City; arrange an urban railway station at the passenger terminal area of the port to serve the connection with the national railway system, the urban railway line connecting with Hanoi Capital. The detailed planning of the connecting traffic system is determined in the sectoral planning, provincial planning to ensure synchronization and socio -economic development needs.
The Ministry of Construction requested the Hanoi People's Committee to coordinate with the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee to complete the planning and investment in road and railway routes connecting the capital Hanoi with Gia Binh International Airport.
The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province reviews and updates the planning contents of Gia Binh International Airport into the local planning and related planning; strictly manages the province's airspace and construction height according to regulations; studies solutions for electricity supply, water supply, drainage... for the area surrounding the airport.
Bac Ninh province arranges and protects land funds in accordance with approved planning, has plans for planning and land use plans to ensure that land funds are ready to meet the needs of expansion according to the planning; coordinates with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to review plans related to electricity, fuel and energy supply infrastructure to make appropriate adjustments, ensuring the ability to connect infrastructure and exploit Gia Binh Airport according to the planning scale.
According to calculations by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the estimated investment cost according to the planning of Gia Binh Airport is about 161,600 billion VND in the 2021-2030 period, about 52,700 billion VND with a vision to 2050.
When Gia Binh Airport is added to the master plan for the development of the national airport system, the capital investment demand for airport system development until 2030 is about VND 485,472 billion, mobilized from the State budget, non-budgetary capital and other legal capital sources.
