Four years ago, Truong Chi Hung, a 9th-grade student at Vinschool Times City High School, accidentally tried a game of chess with his friends. His fascination with the moves that required strategic thinking and patience led him to become involved with the sport and a member of the Future Chess Masters Club. Upon hearing about the Youth Pioneer and Children's Chess Tournament for students, Hung registered to participate, hoping to gain experience and learn from strong young chess players across the country.
Besides sports competitions, the Student Chess Tournament is one of the intellectual tournaments that the Youth Pioneer and Children's Newspaper has consistently organized for many years, receiving widespread support from society. The tournament aims to develop the movement of practicing and competing in intellectual sports in general, and chess in particular, within schools. Through the tournament, the Organizing Committee also hopes to contribute to improving physical fitness, developing intellect, and discovering talent for national sports.

In the 2025-2026 school year alone, the Youth Pioneer and Children's Newspaper Student Chess Tournament attracted nearly 3,000 athletes, including students from preschool to junior high school nationwide. The national tournament held in Hanoi alone attracted 1,600 players. After a day of exciting competition, 198 students were honored for their impressive and serious performances.
“The tournament is not only a valuable playground for students but also an environment that helps them cultivate willpower, improve skills, overcome their limitations, and nurture their passion for chess,” emphasized Phan Viet Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Youth Pioneer and Children's Newspaper and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee.

According to him, chess is developing strongly in many localities, becoming a popular choice for many families because of its ability to train children's thinking skills, concentration, and character from an early age.
“In this context, the participation of large enterprises plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving the quality of playgrounds for children. As a company that has partnered with the Youth Pioneer Newspaper and Children's Newspaper in many meaningful activities and programs, Vinamilk not only provides resources but also demonstrates a lasting concern for the future generation,” Mr. Hung said.

Sharing more on this matter, Mr. Do Thanh Tuan, Director of External Relations at Vinamilk, affirmed that accompanying these tournaments is not just about creating playgrounds, but also stems from the mission of caring for the future generation that the company has pursued for the past 50 years. With a solid nutritional foundation, sports and intellectual competitions will contribute to the comprehensive development of children, both physically and mentally.
Notably, at the Robotacon WRO competition, Vinamilk contributed to many Vietnamese teams achieving high rankings in the world's largest STEM robotics competitions. Besides academic, sporting, and intellectual competitions, Vinamilk also maintains sustainable nutrition programs such as the School Milk Program and the Vietnam Rising Milk Fund… ensuring that all children have equal opportunities to access the best quality nutritional products.
