This is the result that Thai Nguyen province achieved in 2025, the first year after the merger of the two provinces (Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan). Although only 91.4% of the plan was completed, it still affirms the efforts of all levels of government, relevant agencies, and farmers, especially considering that Thai Nguyen will face widespread natural disasters, storms, and floods in 2025.

The experimental production of new rice varieties with high yield and quality, followed by large-scale cultivation, has helped to maintain stable food production in Thai Nguyen .

As early as June, heavy rains in the northern communes of the province caused flooding and landslides in some areas, significantly affecting food crop production. By early October, a historic flood also severely impacted many food crop areas.

To ensure food security in the province, in 2026, Thai Nguyen plans to plant nearly 86,000 hectares of rice, striving for a yield of over 467,000 tons; and over 26,800 hectares of corn, striving for a yield of over 125,200 tons.

Currently, farmers in the province are intensifying the cultivation of winter-spring corn (over 4,300 hectares) and preparing for spring rice production (over 36,000 hectares) to ensure it is done within the correct timeframe…
