As early as June, heavy rains in the northern communes of the province caused flooding and landslides in some areas, significantly affecting food crop production. By early October, a historic flood also severely impacted many food crop areas.
To ensure food security in the province, in 2026, Thai Nguyen plans to plant nearly 86,000 hectares of rice, striving for a yield of over 467,000 tons; and over 26,800 hectares of corn, striving for a yield of over 125,200 tons.
Currently, farmers in the province are intensifying the cultivation of winter-spring corn (over 4,300 hectares) and preparing for spring rice production (over 36,000 hectares) to ensure it is done within the correct timeframe…
