Vietnamese OCOP products have gradually established their position in the market with consumers both domestically and internationally.
To date, many Vietnamese OCOP products are available on the shelves of foreign supermarkets through Vietnamese agricultural import-export corporations. This is an advantage that gives Vietnamese OCOP products more opportunities for further development.
Ca Mau province has great potential and advantages for developing fisheries, agriculture, and forestry. In recent years, taking advantage of the local strengths, Ca Mau province has created conditions and supported people and production facilities, cooperatives, and businesses to develop many OCOP products that are characteristic and famous specialties of Ca Mau such as dried snakehead fish, salted mud crab, tilapia fish cake, water spinach pickle, oyster crackers, rice, dried bananas, etc.
In particular, products made from shrimp such as shrimp crackers, dried shrimp, roasted shrimp, shrimp floss, eco-friendly dried shrimp, split shrimp, peeled dried shrimp...
According to Mr. Bui Van Chuong, Director of Tan Phat Loi Cooperative in Ca Mau, the cooperative has produced and marketed many specialty products characteristic of the Ca Mau region; among them, many products have achieved 3-star OCOP certification at the provincial level, such as oyster crackers, peeled dried shrimp, shrimp salt, and shrimp floss.
Since joining the OCOP program, the value of the cooperative's products has increased significantly compared to before. In the future, the cooperative will continue to innovate and improve product quality, design, and packaging, produce according to safety standards, and continue to participate in the OCOP program for its strong products in order to gradually establish its brand in the market.
Representatives from the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment stated that in order to develop key agricultural and aquatic products and OCOP products in the province in the coming time, relevant sectors, localities, businesses, and OCOP entities need to proactively carry out effective market forecasting; strengthen innovation and apply advanced technologies, especially deep processing technologies, to improve quality and added value, and develop products that meet the requirements of consumers and the market.
Organize numerous trade promotion activities; expand product display points throughout the province. Enhance the marketing capacity of OCOP entities, businesses, and cooperatives in introducing and promoting products; build dedicated websites to promote brands and products; and focus on ensuring quality and food safety. This will contribute to improving the quality and market position of key agricultural and aquatic products, as well as OCOP products, of Ca Mau province.
In An Giang province, after more than 5 years of implementation, the entire province has 582 OCOP products recognized in 102 commune-level administrative units, averaging 5.7 products per unit.
In 2023 and 2024 alone, more than 150 new products met the standards each year. OCOP products are mainly concentrated in the food group (506 products), followed by handicrafts, beverages, medicinal herbs, ornamental plants, and tourism services. Many products have established their brands, such as specialty fragrant rice, Phu Quoc fish sauce, palm sugar syrup, canned baby corn, etc.

By 2025, the province aims to have 14 products achieving 5-star rating and 1 potential 5-star product. This is a testament to the province's efforts in improving quality, traceability, packaging, and international standards.
To develop the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program effectively, An Giang province has identified raw material areas as a key foundation. Many production-consumption linkage models have been formed, such as Vinh Hoa durian, Cu Lao Gieng mango, and Antesco baby corn, with a cultivation area of over 7,000 hectares... helping farmers stabilize output and raise product quality standards.
The expanded geographical area facilitates the formation of large-scale production zones, connecting production, processing, and trade. This serves as a stepping stone for OCOP products to possess local characteristics while remaining competitive in the market," shared Mr. Le Huu Toan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province.
For producers of OCOP products, securing quality raw materials is a major challenge in creating delicious products. However, producers of these product lines are now more confident about their raw material supply.
Ms. Le Thi Be, the owner of the 3-star OCOP product "Mắm cá đồng tập tàng" (Fermented fish paste made from freshwater fish) in An Bien commune, An Giang province, said that after the merger of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces, she no longer worries about the shortage of raw materials for making fish sauce as before. It is estimated that Ms. Be produces 200-300 kg of fish sauce annually, earning a profit of approximately 150 million VND.
Previously, the scarcity of natural fish resources made it difficult for her family to make fish sauce. Now that there are more areas to harvest freshwater fish, she plans to expand production.
Despite achieving many positive results, the commercialization of OCOP products still faces obstacles. Some OCOP producers operate on a small scale, lack systematic investment, have unprofessional packaging, and have weak market linkages; their products cannot be sustained after certification.
Through discussions with OCOP (One Commune One Product) businesses, it was found that the majority faced difficulties in securing investment capital for packaging, design, improving production processes, and establishing raw material areas.
Mr. Paule Le, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Central Retail Vietnam, shared that OCOP products are favored by foreign consumers due to their regional characteristics and high quality. Producers only need to focus on attractive packaging to quickly bring Vietnamese OCOP products to foreign markets.
