By 5 PM on April 23, 2026, the online registration portal for 10th grade admissions had closed. Basically, students received guidance from teachers and parents to choose preferences that matched their abilities and academic performance. However, this year the number of candidates is high, and the competition is intense, causing many students to feel quite hesitant and anxious when choosing a school.

Pham Mai Lan, a 9th-grade student at Pham Ngoc Thach Secondary School (Son Tra ward), shared that her and her family's aspiration is to enroll in Phan Chau Trinh High School (Hai Chau ward). This is one of the highly competitive schools with a large number of applicants, so Mai Lan is quite worried.

However, with the encouragement and guidance of her teachers and family, Mai Lan realized that she could place her trust in her aspirations and choices. “I have developed a specific study plan for each subject, allocating time appropriately between studying and resting, and focusing on practicing exam questions for all subjects to hone my test-taking skills. I hope that with this preparation, I can achieve the results I desire,” Mai Lan expressed.

Meanwhile, Ho Nguyen Hong Phuc, a 9th-grade student at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School (Hoa Khanh ward), said that after choosing her preferences and selecting schools that match her academic abilities, she has proactively allocated her study time evenly across all subjects. Mathematics is the subject Phuc is focusing on improving the most, especially addressing common mistakes such as errors in calculations and presentation.

According to Phuc, recognizing his weaknesses helped him adjust his learning methods more effectively during this crucial period. Therefore, in addition to classroom lessons, Phuc maintained a habit of practicing with sample questions, reviewing his mistakes after each attempt to learn from them. He also focused on allocating his time wisely during exams, avoiding spending too much time on a difficult question. He used the remaining time to consolidate areas of knowledge he was unsure of, maintaining a stable mindset to enter the exam with the highest level of confidence.

Besides high-achieving students who have already chosen their desired high school and aspirations, many students are considering other opportunities. After participating in the recent Vocational Education and Training Counseling Fair for students and workers in the area, organized by the Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Quynh Nhi, a 9th-grade student from Do Thuc Tinh Secondary School (Hoa Tien commune), said that she and her family had previously decided that she would continue her education at the high school level.

However, after researching and receiving career counseling, Nhi gained a more realistic perspective on post-junior high school options and became interested in vocational high school. Nhi believes that if she chooses this option, she will still have the opportunity to study academics while learning a trade she loves. But for now, she is still focusing on doing well in the entrance exam for 10th grade.

According to information from the Department of Education and Training's primary school enrollment registration system, by April 23rd, most 9th-grade students had completed their enrollment registration.

Some schools have a relatively high percentage of students registering for their first choice, such as Phan Chau Trinh High School (Hai Chau ward) with over 2,900 first-choice applications (quota of 1,440 students); Hoang Hoa Tham High School (An Hai ward) with over 1,000 first-choice applications (quota of 585 students); Tran Cao Van High School (Tam Ky ward) with over 1,200 first-choice applications (quota of 675 students); Tran Phu High School (Hai Chau ward) with over 1,390 first-choice applications and over 1,410 second-choice applications (quota of 900 students)...

After the online registration portal closes on April 23, 2026, candidates have 3 days to consider whether to change their chosen preferences. Candidates can change their registered preferences from April 26, 2026 to 5 PM on April 29, 2026.
