The serious deterioration of the My Dinh National Stadium ( Hanoi ) has become a persistent problem, attracting public attention for a long time.

The culmination of this decline was the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) being forced to make the decision that it could no longer host the Vietnamese national team's home matches at the My Dinh Stadium after the 2024 AFF Cup.

The ongoing comprehensive renovation is the biggest upgrade to the stadium since the 31st SEA Games. Construction is expected to last more than three months. During this time, My Dinh Stadium will temporarily suspend all sporting , entertainment, and performance activities.

According to Dan Tri reporters, the pitch will be dug 40-50cm deeper to rebuild the drainage system to address flooding issues, and the grass irrigation system will also be upgraded so that My Dinh Stadium can return to its best appearance and quality.

Renovation work at My Dinh National Stadium is progressing rapidly this morning, November 11th. All the old turf has been removed, and the pitch's base is being thoroughly and carefully prepared for the planting of new, high-quality grass.

During this renovation, the My Dinh Stadium pitch will be constructed in seven layers. This is part of a process to replace and replant the pitch, including preparing the base layer and a new layer of grass called Zeon Zoysia, a grass variety used in famous stadiums such as Old Trafford and Anfield in the English Premier League. It is expected that grass planting can begin in February 2026.

Mechanical equipment is being used to quickly complete the earthwork on the old foundation. My Dinh Stadium is undergoing a comprehensive renovation with a total cost of approximately 10 billion VND from the state budget.
This amount will be allocated in two installments: the first installment of 8 billion VND will be used to renovate the stadium's foundation, including digging deeper and completely renewing the entire base, expected to be completed by the end of this year. The second installment, with 2 billion VND, will be dedicated to laying new turf.

The drainage system pipes are being transported inside My Dinh Stadium in preparation for installation.

The coaching staff's seats are being neatly arranged, awaiting installation onto the newly completed pitch.

This comprehensive renovation is generating high expectations for a completely new look for My Dinh National Stadium – a symbol of Vietnamese sports.
The project aims not only to address the deterioration but also serves as a strategic step to restore My Dinh Stadium to its rightful place, meeting all the technical standards necessary to successfully host major international sporting events in the future.
