Of which, 9 universities include: Hanoi University of Industry, Viet Tri University of Industry, Sao Do University, Vietnam-Hungary University of Industry, Quang Ninh University of Industry, University of Industrial Economics and Technology, University of Electricity, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Deputy Head of the Government's Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, signed Document No. 06/CV-BCĐTKNQ18, requesting ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government to complete plans to arrange and streamline the organizational apparatus of their ministries and branches.
In which, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development merged the School of Agricultural and Rural Development Management into the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture.
Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, merged the School of Training and Fostering of Natural Resources and Environment Officers into the University of Natural Resources and Environment.
Merging and reducing the number of colleges
According to the proposed plan to reorganize the Ministry of Industry and Trade's apparatus sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs in the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to merge many public service units within the organizational structure and public service units outside the organizational structure.
Regarding training facilities, the ministry plans to merge the Central School of Training and Fostering of Industry and Trade Officials into the Institute for Research on Strategy and Industry and Trade Policy.
In addition, 8 colleges under the Ministry of Industry and Trade will be arranged in Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho and Hanoi provinces in the 2024-2025 school year. After the arrangement, the number of colleges will be reduced from 8 to 4.
Specifically, merging Thai Nguyen Industrial College into the College of Commerce and Tourism; merging the College of Technology and Industrial Economics into the Vietnam - Germany Industrial College; merging Phu Tho Industrial and Commercial College into the College of Food Industry; merging Hanoi Industrial Economics College into the College of Economics, Technical and Commercial Economics.
At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to arrange 2 institutes into 2 universities. Specifically, the Institute for Research, Design and Manufacturing of Agricultural Machinery will be merged into the Vietnam-Hungary University of Industry; the Institute for Research on Oil and Oil Plants will be merged into the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.

Regarding the work of streamlining the apparatus, some other units also have a policy of merging and consolidating to reduce the number of internal management units. For example, according to the "Project to streamline the internal organization of Ho Chi Minh City National University", in the next 5 years, this University will reduce 36% of internal management units; Increase the number of financially autonomous units from 66% to 92%; Reduce the number of employees receiving state budget salaries to 8%.
