On August 31, speaking with reporters, Ms. Kha Thi Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Quang commune, Nghe An province said that serious landslides had just occurred in many places in the area due to the impact of heavy rain for many consecutive days after storm No. 5.

In particular, Dinh Phong bridge over Lam river, the vital bridge connecting Dinh Phong village to Dinh Tien, Dinh Huong, Dinh Thang village, has been eroded, lost its bridge pier, and is impassable. This is the most important traffic route of the commune, serving nearly 300 households in their daily life, study and production.
“Immediately after learning about the situation, the commune set up barricades, put up warning signs, and assigned forces to guard the bridge area to ensure absolute safety for the people. We recommend that people limit their movement during heavy rains and absolutely do not cross the damaged bridge area,” Ms. Hien emphasized.

Currently, the temporary solution is that people are forced to go around QL48C to Khe Bo. However, this detour is 15 - 25 km further, making it difficult for people to travel.
The most worrying issue at present is the education of students in the commune. The new school year is only a few days away, but the bridge is at risk of collapsing, causing the road to school to be extended by dozens of kilometers. The local secondary school does not have a boarding school, which means that every day the students have to go back and forth in adverse weather conditions, on a long and dangerous detour.

Tam Quang commune leaders said that in the immediate future, the locality will coordinate with relevant agencies to assess the extent of the damage and develop a plan to repair it. While waiting for the bridge to be repaired, the commune is considering the solution of asking for permission to set up a temporary ferry terminal to ensure essential travel for the people.
In addition to Dinh Phong bridge, many roads in Tam Quang are also in a state of serious landslides. The positive slopes on the Bai Xa - Tung Huong route have been continuously eroded, the already narrow road surface now has only one lane, posing a potential risk of accidents. The commune authorities have issued an urgent notice, asking people and vehicles passing by to be extremely careful.

It is known that Tam Quang commune is one of the localities heavily affected by the recent storm No. 3. Currently, there are still about 50 households that cannot return home due to damaged houses and landslides. The commune government is mobilizing forces to help people rebuild their houses, and at the same time calling on organizations and unions to join hands to support people to stabilize their lives.
