MU wants to sell Zirkzee outright. |
According to The Sun , Manchester United could see up to six players leave Old Trafford in January 2026, most notably Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee, two players who are not getting much playing time under manager Ruben Amorim.
Mainoo is the most surprising name on the list of potential departures. This season, he hasn't started a single Premier League match and has frequently been on the bench. Many sources indicate that Napoli are closely monitoring him and may make a loan offer to persuade Manchester United to release him.
Furthermore, Zirkzee is also reportedly ready to leave in January to salvage his somewhat declining career. The 24-year-old striker has only made a few appearances from the bench in the Premier League this season and wants to find a new club to guarantee him a starting place, especially with the 2026 World Cup approaching.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport , Zirkzee has almost agreed to join AS Roma on a loan deal, with an option to buy after the season ends.
In addition to the aforementioned duo, MU is also considering letting a number of young players leave on loan to gain experience, including Harry Amass, Toby Collyer, and Diego Leon.
Conversely, coach Amorim affirmed that he would "only accept transfer deals if the team has suitable replacements," emphasizing that stability is the top priority during this crucial stage of the season.
