At the workshop, experts pointed out that Vietnam's water sector is facing unprecedented operational challenges. Besides operational difficulties, the sector is also under increasing pressure from environmental regulations, investor expectations, and community demands for sustainable development.
Deteriorating infrastructure also impacts energy costs, especially as power quality deteriorates and energy prices fluctuate. For businesses, optimizing capital expenditure (CAPEX) while ensuring reduced operating expenditure (OPEX) is a key management challenge under tight budget constraints.
The final hurdle relates to digitalization and data governance. Fragmented IT/OT systems and data prevent businesses from tracking operations seamlessly, leading to delays in research, evaluation, and operational decision-making. Furthermore, enhanced cybersecurity and reliability are needed for critical infrastructure.

To overcome these challenges, Vietnam's water sector needs a systemic approach, connecting everything from electrical infrastructure and field equipment to control and data platforms, rather than fragmented solutions.
Therefore, digital transformation in the water industry is not just a technological challenge, but requires the coordination of the entire ecosystem, from management agencies and operating businesses to technology partners, in order to create a smart, safe, and sustainable water infrastructure in the long term.
Given this reality, Schneider Electric has approached the water industry problem through an integrated architecture, connecting the entire system from the electrical layer and field equipment to control and software, enabling seamless data exploitation and optimized operation.

Ms. Doan Thi Ha, Deputy General Director of the Industrial Automation Division of Schneider Electric Vietnam, stated: “As a leading Energy Technology partner, Schneider Electric provides comprehensive solutions throughout the water lifecycle, integrating electrochemistry, automation, and digitalization. We partner with water sector entities in modernizing their entire systems and working with the Vietnamese water industry to build data-driven operational capabilities, aiming for a smarter, more flexible water system and achieving sustainable development goals.”
