After winning Wimbledon for the first time on July 13, defeating formidable opponent Carlos Alcaraz to win the fourth Grand Slam title of his career, Jannik Sinner is at the peak of his form and ready for new challenges.
Having decided to skip the Canadian Open, the world number one will return at the Cincinnati Masters, kicking off his journey to conquer North American hard courts - a surface he has thrived on throughout his career. Sinner's aim is to continue his impressive form in the US, aiming to successfully defend the titles he won last year at the Cincinnati Masters and US Open.

To that end, Sinner is working hard. A video posted on X shows the Italian working hard at the Monte Carlo Country Club. Notably, Sinner is seen hitting a backhand slice, a shot that rarely appears in his matches, before finishing with a powerful forehand. This could indicate that he is looking to add and perfect this skill to his game.
Sinner's decision to skip the Canadian Open, along with big names like Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Jack Draper, was a carefully considered one. After winning Wimbledon and the Canadian Open just 13 days later, Sinner opted to take some time off to ensure he was in the best of health before heading to the United States.
Commenting on the decision, Sinner said: “I am really disappointed to miss the National Bank Open in Toronto, especially as I have so many great memories of playing in Canada. Winning the title in Toronto two years ago was the start of a really special moment for me, but after talking to my team, I had to put my health first.
I want to thank tournament director Karl Hale, for everything he has done, and I look forward to returning to Canada and Toronto in the future to compete in front of great fans.”
