Samsung's ultra-thin foldable smartphone has been revealed.

Samsung has just announced that it will hold the Galaxy Unpacked event at 9 PM on July 9th (Vietnam time). According to leaked images, the South Korean company is expected to launch its latest generation of foldable smartphones, along with several other Galaxy devices.

The event took place in Brooklyn, New York (USA), with the highlight being the next-generation Galaxy Z series and its artificial intelligence features.

Based on rumors, the devices that could be launched include the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, incorporating Samsung's latest technology for foldable phones. The Z Flip7 is expected to have a larger outer screen, similar to Motorola's Razr Ultra.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 retains the book-like design, with a large screen inside for use as a tablet. In Samsung's teaser video , the Z Fold7 appears to be thinner and has smaller bezels compared to its predecessor.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 will compete with Chinese brands like Huawei, Honor, and Oppo, companies that are rising to prominence with ultra-thin foldable smartphones. The phrase "Ultra Unfolds" also hints at a Z Fold Ultra version.

Based on renders from Android Headlines , the Galaxy Z Fold7's screen is expected to be larger, at 6.5 inches and 8.2 inches respectively.

Speaking to Bloomberg , an Honor representative stated that the upcoming Magic V5 foldable smartphone will be only 8.8 mm thick when folded. Meanwhile, Samsung's major competitor in the US, Google, is also expected to launch the Pixel 10 Pro Fold later this year.

The foldable smartphone market has seen fierce competition in recent years, despite many people not yet embracing the novel design.

Foldable devices are more expensive than regular phones and are still aimed at a niche market, but many companies hope the new design can attract a wider range of users.

Apple, Samsung's biggest rival in the mobile market, has yet to launch a foldable smartphone. However, rumors suggest the company plans to unveil a foldable iPhone as early as 2026.

Besides smartphones, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch8 on July 9th, featuring improvements centered around the Galaxy AI platform. Previously, rumors suggested Samsung might reach an agreement to integrate applications and search assistants from the startup Perplexity AI into the new device line.
