Summary of the work of combating, preventing and repelling smuggling and trade fraud

(kontumtv.vn) – On the afternoon of June 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son co-chaired a national online conference to review the work in the first 6 months of the year and summarize the peak period of fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights. Attending at the Kon Tum provincial bridge was Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Thap.

In the first 6 months of the year, ministries, branches and localities arrested and handled more than 50,700 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement; collected more than 6,500 billion VND for the state budget; prosecuted nearly 1,900 cases with more than 3,200 subjects. Notably, during the peak period from May 15 to June 15, units and localities arrested and handled more than 10,400 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, an increase of more than 80% compared to May. In Kon Tum province, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 inspected and handled 90 cases/95 violators; prosecuted 05 cases/06 defendants with a total administrative fine of more than 570 million VND.

The conference assessed the achievements and limitations in the first 6 months of the year as well as in the peak period of fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights; at the same time, listened to the presentations and reports of ministries, branches and localities; and proposed directions and tasks for the last 6 months of the year. In the coming time, ministries, branches and localities will continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the directions of the Government and the Head of the National Steering Committee 389 on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the new situation; strengthen inspection, supervision and post-inspection, promptly detect and strictly handle violations of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights; at the same time, innovate propaganda, dissemination and legaleducation activities, raise awareness of the harmful effects of counterfeit production and trade; consolidate the local Steering Committee 389 after merging provinces and cities; Promote digital transformation and apply information technology in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods./.
