Thaco Trailers semi-trailers - a strategic step forward.

Based on its industrial manufacturing foundation in the mechanical engineering and supporting industries, and exploiting market potential, since 2014, THACO INDUSTRIES has invested in researching and producing semi-trailers, supplying both the domestic market and for export. To meet the growing demand, especially in anticipation of the global supply chain shift, in subsequent years, THACO INDUSTRIES continued to invest in upgrading technology and developing the Thaco Trailers brand, positioning itself as the leading semi-trailer manufacturer in Vietnam.

In 2022, the Group put into operation THACO INDUSTRIES (Thaco Trailers), a company specializing in the production of semi-trailers and heavy components, and invested in a new factory with a capacity of 30,000 products per year, equipped with the most modern equipment in Southeast Asia. The production process is closed and synchronized, encompassing stages of: component fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and inspection. The factory invested in a laser cutting system for all mechanical parts and semi-trailer frames with high precision. The welding line is equipped with a system of jigs and automatic welding robots with a reach of up to 2,200 mm, ensuring precise welding at all angles, and welds meeting quality and aesthetic standards. After welding, the chassis frame undergoes automatic shot blasting to clean the surface to international standard SA-2.5, then is dipped in electrostatic powder coating (ED) in a 17m long dipping tank. Next, the chassis is powder-coated using automated spray robots, resulting in a smooth, glossy, and aesthetically pleasing surface. The semi-trailer is assembled on a fully automated monorail production line with an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) component feeding system, controlling tightening torque throughout the process. Quality is strictly controlled at every stage; before shipment, the product undergoes braking force testing, overall inspection, and real-world testing on various terrains.

Currently, Thaco Trailers manufactures and supplies a diverse range of product configurations, including: skeletal semi-trailers, flatbed semi-trailers, box semi-trailers, dump semi-trailers, specialized semi-trailers, and semi-trailer components, meeting the specific requirements of customers. The products are highly valued by customers for their light weight, high durability, flexible configuration design that optimizes load capacity; powerful and stable operation, and cost savings. Thaco Trailers semi-trailers represent not only a new step in expanding the product portfolio but also a testament to the manufacturing capabilities and intrinsic value accumulated over more than 20 years of THACO INDUSTRIES' formation and development.

Reaching out to the global market

Following a period of investment in research and development, in 2020, Thaco Trailers exported its first batch of semi-trailers to the US market. Receiving positive feedback on product quality and meeting customer needs, Thaco Trailers continuously improved and enhanced product quality, diversified product configurations, and penetrated this potential market with large orders, paving the way for business expansion in North American countries (Canada, Mexico). Simultaneously, Thaco Trailers continued to produce and supply products to meet the needs of other markets such as Australia, Japan, and South Korea. From 2020 to the present, Thaco Trailers has exported nearly 13,000 semi-trailers to these countries.

To enter the global arena and conquer large markets with high demands for quality standards and technical specifications, Thaco Trailers has implemented a comprehensive set of solutions. The company focuses on effectively utilizing its resources in production capacity, technology, industrial management, and digitalization; investing heavily in R&D; and collaborating with reputable global component suppliers to create high-quality products that meet export standards (DOT, AAR, ANSI, TOFC, F(C)MVSS, SAE, TTMA, etc.), while also offering diverse configurations to suit the needs and specific characteristics of each market.

Currently, Thaco Trailers continues to strengthen its market research activities, participate in international semi-trailer exhibitions, and promote the establishment of a sales company in the United States and representative offices in Australia and Europe. In addition, the company is investing in improving production capacity, R&D, and after-sales service to achieve the goal of cooperating with existing customers to increase the production of skeletal semi-trailers in the North American market; and simultaneously establishing cooperative relationships with new distributors to export specialized components and semi-trailers.

With a solid foundation in production capacity and the ability to capitalize on the large demand from potential markets, Thaco Trailers expects to continue increasing export volume, affirming the position of Vietnamese-made semi-trailers in the global market.
