Dak Ha Primary School is located in a mountainous area with complex terrain and harsh climate.

The school has 669 students, of which 63 are ethnic minority students from Ty Tu village school (Dak Ha commune). All of them are Xo Dang.

According to regulations, only houses located more than 4 km from the school are eligible for boarding support, while many children's houses are about 3 km from the school, on a steep and winding road. After morning classes, children have to go home, so it is common for them to skip class in the afternoon.

To retain students, teachers in the school believe that only by eating lunch on-site can students attend afternoon classes. Since then, free "self-sufficient" lunches for 63 students in Ty Tu village have been started and maintained for more than 3 years. " We know that cooking for ourselves will make teachers tired and waste money, but we are all for the students," said Ms. Van.

According to Ms. Van, the money to buy food for many years has come from the teachers in the school and the support of benefactors.

In addition to money, any teacher who had vegetables or rice would bring them to contribute to the school kitchen. Every day, teachers took turns cooking lunch for the students. Thanks to the on-site meals, the number of students absent from school decreased significantly. Students also ate and slept on time.

"The money for free lunches has run out. If we don't continue cooking, we're afraid the students will miss school again, so the school decided to sell two hybrid wild boars weighing about 60kg. The teachers bought these two pigs with their own money and have personally cared for them for over 10 months," Ms. Van confided.
