The 2025 Dien Bien Province Ethnic Minority Sports Competition was a lively event.

VHO - On October 23rd, at the Dien Bien Provincial Stadium, the Dien Bien Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Dien Bien Province Ethnic Minority Sports Competition. The competition attracted the participation of 500 officials, coaches, and athletes from 28 delegations in Dien Bien province.

Taking place from October 23-25, the competition attracted the participation of 500 officials, coaches, and athletes from 28 delegations. The athletes competed in 8 sports : throwing the ball, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, tug-of-war, traditional games, and rice cake pounding, with a total of 34 events.

This is the second year that the Sports Festival specifically for ethnic minorities has been held in Dien Bien province. The activities at the festival aim to practically achieve accomplishments to celebrate major national and provincial holidays; to celebrate the successful conclusion of the 15th Dien Bien Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, and to prepare for the 14th National Party Congress; and to further promote the movement "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh" in conjunction with the movement "All people unite to build a cultured life".

Through this, the movement for physical education and sports will be developed extensively in mountainous, border, and ethnic minority areas, improving the health, physical fitness, and stature of the people; contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.

The competitions were lively and attracted enthusiastic support from the audience.

The competition was organized to preserve and promote folk games and traditional sports in Dien Bien province.

According to the Organizing Committee, the competition was organized to preserve and promote folk games and ethnic sports in accordance with the Project "Preservation and Development of Ethnic Cultures in Dien Bien Province in conjunction with socio-economic development", and to effectively implement Project 6 under the "National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas giai đoạn 2021-2025, with orientation to 2030".

Through this, outstanding athletes will be discovered and selected to prepare a team to participate in the National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival. In particular, the selection and preparation of athletes for training and participation in the 10th National Sports Games in stick pushing and tug-of-war will be held in the fourth quarter of 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The competition is expected to conclude on the afternoon of October 25th.
