Ta Xi Lang leverages its internal resources to build a new rural area.

From a remote, mountainous commune with many difficult-to-access roads, especially during the rainy season, Ta Xi Lang is now transforming day by day with a more vibrant rural landscape. Inter-village roads have been paved, many spacious houses have sprung up, and the lives of the people are improving. This result is due to the concerted efforts of the Party committee and the government, along with the proactive and responsible spirit of each citizen in building a new rural area.

We arrived at Xa Nhu village just as the officials and villagers were completing the final meters of concrete on the more than 5-kilometer-long inter-village road. The atmosphere was bustling with activity, and everyone's faces were filled with joy and excitement because from now on, travel and the transportation of agricultural products would be much easier.

Mr. Sung A Chinh, Head of Xa Nhu village, shared: “Initially, many households were still waiting for government support. But after being informed, the people understood that building new rural areas brings practical benefits to themselves, so they agreed and actively participated. During the implementation process, all contents were made public by the village so that people could discuss, agree, and implement them together. When people are empowered to play a leading role, building new rural areas becomes easier.”

Xa Nhu village currently has about 114 households, mainly inhabited by the Mong ethnic group. However, thanks to intensified propaganda efforts, the people have unanimously contributed money, labor, and land to build a new rural area.

In 2025, Xa Nhu village mobilized 300 million VND for rural development. Villagers voluntarily donated over 500 ^m² of land and contributed over 1,000 man-days of labor to pave rural roads with concrete, renovate the cultural center grounds, and install street lighting. From the beginning of 2026 until now, the villagers have continued to contribute over 70 million VND to implement rural development projects.

Visiting Ta Xi Lang today, one can easily sense the changes: clean, well-maintained concrete roads connecting villages, many sturdy houses built, and economic models providing stable income for the people. To achieve these results, the commune has focused on disseminating information and mobilizing people to play a leading role in building new rural areas according to the motto "The State and the People work together."

As one of the households actively participating in the new rural development program in Ta Cao village, Mr. Giang A Thao shared: “Previously, the road into the village was very difficult to travel on, especially during the rainy season. When the commune mobilized for road construction, everyone agreed to donate land and contribute labor. My family also participated with everyone in widening the road and regularly cleaning the environment. With a beautiful road, travel and transportation of agricultural products are much more convenient.”

With the active participation of the people, Ta Xi Lang commune has focused on mobilizing various resources to invest in essential infrastructure. Many transportation projects, schools, and cultural centers have received investment, contributing to improving the quality of life for the people. As a result, the rural landscape of the locality has undergone many positive changes; the infrastructure system is increasingly complete, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development.

To date, all main roads in Ta Xi Lang commune have been basically concreted, with a total length of approximately 18 km and a minimum road width of 3 meters. Many inter-village and alley roads continue to be expanded and upgraded; the paving rate has reached about 35%. In addition, the national power grid now covers about 85% of the villages in the area, basically meeting the living and production needs of the people.

In addition, Ta Xi Lang commune is coordinating with relevant units to gradually complete the national power grid system, striving to ensure that by the end of 2026, 100% of villages will have access to stable and safe electricity. During the 2026-2030 period, the locality also aims to upgrade school facilities, working towards building standard kindergartens and secondary schools, with a total estimated investment of approximately 70 billion VND.

Many inter-village and alley roads continue to be widened and upgraded; the rate of paved roads has reached approximately 35%.

In 2026, Ta Xi Lang commune plans to implement 11 rural transportation projects, aiming to expand approximately 26 km of roadbeds, construct 1 km of new roads, and reinforce 3 km of existing roads. The total investment is estimated at around 19 billion VND, of which the locality strives to mobilize approximately 4.5 billion VND from social resources within the community, with the remainder coming from state funding. From the beginning of 2026 until now, the people of the commune have actively participated in contributing to the new rural development program with a total amount exceeding 600 million VND, donating approximately 1,400 m² of land, and contributing over 400 days of labor.

Mr. Mu A Sung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ta Xi Lang commune, shared: “Identifying the construction of new rural areas as a long-term task requiring the joint efforts of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, the locality focuses on promoting propaganda, raising awareness and responsibility so that people can play a leading role and proactively participate in implementing the new rural area criteria in a substantive and sustainable way. The commune strives to have 100% of inter-village and alley roads concreted by 2030.”

The rural landscape of Ta Xi Lang commune has undergone positive changes, with the poverty rate in the commune dropping to below 50%.

By harnessing the internal strength of the people, the new rural development program in Ta Xi Lang has brought about many positive changes. The appearance of the highland countryside is gradually improving with many solid houses being built; the poverty rate in the commune has decreased to below 50% (according to the old criteria), and the average per capita income has reached nearly 30 million VND/person/year. Although the road to new rural development still faces many difficulties, with the consensus and joint efforts of the people, Ta Xi Lang commune is continuing to complete the criteria, striving to achieve the new rural standard before 2030.
