Suspension of new mining permits in Hue.

The Standing Committee of the Hue City Party Committee has issued a directive to the Standing Committee of the Hue City People's Committee Party Committee to conduct a comprehensive review of state management of mineral activities in the area, and to temporarily suspend the granting of new licenses and auctions for mineral exploitation rights.

According to the Standing Committee of the Hue City Party Committee, the city is currently implementing many key projects serving socio -economic development, public investment, and technical infrastructure for the period 2025-2030, therefore the demand for construction materials is very high.

Based on Government Resolution No. 66.4/2025/NQ-CP on specific mechanisms and policies to overcome difficulties in implementing the 2024 Law on Geology and Minerals; to proactively secure construction materials for key projects and reduce public investment costs; and to strengthen state management of mineral activities in the area in accordance with regulations, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee requests the Standing Committee of the City People's Committee Party Committee and the leaders of the City People's Committee to urgently implement the following contents:

For the time being, the issuance of new licenses, additions to the list of items subject to auction, the list of items not subject to auction, and the organization of auctions for mining rights in the city will be temporarily suspended in order to conduct a comprehensive review of state management of mineral activities.

If absolutely necessary, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the People's Committee of the city shall report to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee.

In addition, the directive calls for a comprehensive review and assessment of the current status of planning, reserves, mining capacity, and supply of common construction materials, as well as an evaluation of material needs for each region and project group, especially key projects, public investment projects, and strategic infrastructure projects in the 2025-2030 period.

Based on the review, the City People's Committee will develop a comprehensive plan for areas where mineral exploitation rights will not be auctioned and areas where mineral exploitation rights will be auctioned, and report it to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee before May 25, 2026.

The move by the Standing Committee of the Hue City Party Committee aims to proactively balance the supply of construction materials, effectively serving key projects, while simultaneously tightening the management of mineral exploitation activities in the area in the coming period.
