The Vietnam National Museum of History will open its doors to the public free of charge for three days, from September 1 to 3.

Museums such as: Ho Chi Minh Museum, Vietnam National Museum of History, Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts (in Hanoi ), Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Cultures and Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater.

Not only introducing regular exhibitions and activities, on this occasion, museums and theaters will also organize many special exhibitions and programs, such as: The exhibition of Independence Autumn, 80 years of the People's Public Security engraved Uncle Ho's words (Ho Chi Minh Museum); Exhibition of Ho Chi Minh - Portrait of a man (Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Ho Chi Minh City); the exhibition of Popular Education - Lighting up the future (Vietnam National Museum of History); exhibition of Children of the Fatherland, Artificial Intelligence in Applied Arts (Vietnam Fine Arts Museum)... The meaning of this special activity, as directed by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, is: Through activities to contribute to people enjoying the fruits of the process of building and developing the country, at the same time contributing to promoting the image of Vietnamese culture and people to international friends.

At the end of 2024, at the 20th session of the Hanoi People's Council, a Resolution was passed to supplement regulations on fees for visiting scenic spots, historical sites, cultural works, and museums in the area, including regulations on free admission for children and people under 16 years old, along with regulations on ticket exemption and reduction for some other subjects. This decision quickly received positive responses from the people.

In the context of the increasing demand of people to learn about culture and history through activities and artifacts, the position of museums is gradually becoming more clearly defined in social life. However, in order to balance the service goal and the ability to balance finances to reinvest in activities, many museums and art units are on the path to increase ticket prices, which partly affects the accessibility of people, especially students, and is also evoking multi-dimensional exchanges. Therefore, free activities (by units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ), or the regulation of prioritizing visitors under 16 years old (by Hanoi city) can be considered valuable suggestions in the effort to balance the need for cultural enjoyment of the general public, and the requirement to ensure increasingly professional and modern service capacity of cultural destinations.
