The motto "taking patients as the center, focusing on building and developing a culture of communication and behavior" is actively implemented by the staff of Than Uyen Medical Center.

Than Uyen Medical Center currently has 305 employees, including 60 doctors. The unit has developed a plan, launched a competition movement, organized a commitment to change the style, attitude of communication and behavior, and serving patients; organized training on communication and behavior skills for medical staff (from 2020 to present, the center has organized 9 training courses). Established a social work team, a care department with the task of welcoming, consulting, supporting, and guiding people when they come to do medical examination and treatment procedures, and pay hospital fees. In addition, implementing "support" activities for patients in the hospital such as: organizing and maintaining the "Bowl of Gratitude" program; arranging "Zero-VND stalls"; building "Charity boxes to support patients in difficult circumstances".
At the same time, establish, maintain and publicize a 24/7 hotline; arrange 26 suggestion boxes in convenient locations to receive feedback and recommendations from patients and their families. Organize surveys and collect opinions on patient satisfaction once a month and on an ad hoc basis at departments, rooms and medical stations; promptly commend individuals with good and creative practices for replication; detect and correct words and behaviors that are not up to standard; use that as a basis for monthly evaluation and emulation.
Doctor Do Hong Tham (Internal Medicine Department) shared: “Patients who come to the center are in pain and anxiety, so we always uphold the spirit of medical ethics, provide thoughtful care, share thoughtfully, and encourage. Along with that, we promote the spirit of self-study to have solid expertise to meet the requirements of the job.”
Along with implementing good communication and behavioral culture, Than Uyen Medical Center builds a green, clean, beautiful and friendly hospital landscape. Taking patients as the center, caring for the smallest things, preparing the best conditions from eating, sleeping, living, hygiene; installing free wifi; arranging places for sports and fitness training for adults; indoor and outdoor play areas for children.
Mr. Lo Van Chung from Muong Kim commune, who is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit, confided: “The doctors and nurses are very enthusiastic and take good care of me and the patients. Despite their busy work, the medical staff always smile when communicating with patients and their families, which makes me feel warm and secure during treatment.”
Through the survey, the center achieved a rate of inpatients satisfied with medical examination and treatment services of 94.6%; outpatients satisfied rate of 95.8%; and overall patient satisfaction rate of 96%. The criteria groups for evaluating the attitude and professional competence of medical staff were highly appreciated (4.13/5 points); the criteria group for transparency of information and procedures reached 4.09/5 points.
From 2015 to present, Than Uyen Medical Center has received many letters of praise for the spirit and service attitude of its staff and employees; there have been no petitions or complaints received through the suggestion box. Thanks to that, the center was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Emulation Cluster of 7 Northern mountainous provinces; the Prime Minister for studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh .
Dr. Dinh Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of Than Uyen Medical Center said: With the motto "taking patients as the center, focusing on building and developing a culture of communication and behavior", the center is increasingly improving the quality of services, building a friendly and professional image. In the coming time, the unit will continue to pay attention to educating medical ethics, culture of communication and behavior; innovating the style and service attitude of staff, doctors and nurses, aiming at the satisfaction of patients, associated with continuing to study and follow the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh.
By making efforts to build a culture of communication and behavior, Than Uyen Medical Center not only changes skills and attitudes but also creates a positive change in the thinking and awareness of each medical staff about their role in caring for and protecting community health. From there, it becomes a trusted address for health care for people in the area.
