Phu Xuan Ward Police support people to clean up mud and trash after the flood

Phu Xuan is one of the most heavily affected localities in Hue City with a large area and large population. In particular, many areas along Ngu Ha River, Tinh Tam Lake and Nguyen Chi Thanh, Bach Dang, Chi Lang, Nguyen Gia Thieu, Le Dai Hanh streets... have seen rapid water rise, isolating many households.

Amidst heavy rain and raging floodwaters, the Phu Xuan Ward Police force became a solid support for the people. That very night, dozens of officers and soldiers were mobilized, coordinating with the forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level, crossing the raging water, and evacuating low-lying households to safety.

“On the evening of October 27, the floodwaters rose high, and my parents were trapped in their house in area 343 of the Perfume River. Fortunately, the local police arrived in time, braving the cold, rushing water to dive into the floodwaters to find and unlock the door, bringing my parents out safely. Without them, we really wouldn’t have known what to do,” said the son of Ms. Phan Thi Gai, a resident who was assisted by the Phu Xuan Ward Police during the flood.

Not only organizing the evacuation of people, Phu Xuan Ward Police also brought a pregnant woman to the hospital to safely give birth during the flood and coordinated with the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital to move 50 patients from facility 2 to facility 1 when the water was deep. Despite the rain, wind, and cold water, for many days, the officers still persevered in their duties, ensuring that no one was left behind.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Tuan Viet, Chief of Phu Xuan Ward Police, shared: “Phu Xuan area has many low-lying areas, when it rains heavily, the water rises very quickly. The ward police force always determines the key task is to stay close to the base, promptly respond and support people in all situations.”

The rain has stopped, the water has receded, but traces of the flood are still visible on every wall and every muddy road. Immediately after the disaster, officers and soldiers of Phu Xuan Ward Police continued to go to each residential area, helping people clean up their houses, clean the environment, and support the repair of electricity, water, and school systems. They and the people dragged each bag of trash, scooped each layer of mud, provided food and drinking water to the needy households, and encouraged people to return to normal life soon.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Bang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Xuan Ward, commented: "The ward police are the core force, fighting in both times of floods and after natural disasters. The image of soldiers sticking to the people and the area, regardless of hardship, clearly demonstrates the spirit of 'serving the people' of the police force."

Life in Phu Xuan is gradually returning to normal. Schools are open, markets are operating again... During that journey, the Phu Xuan Ward Police force continues to accompany the government, the people and the entire force to help people stabilize their residence, maintain security and order, prevent the risk of epidemics, and ensure the safety of each household.
