Police officers from Phu Xuan ward are assisting residents in cleaning up mud and debris after the flood.

Phu Xuan is one of the most severely affected areas in Hue City, with a large geographical area and a large population. In particular, many areas along the Ngu Ha River, Tinh Tam Lake, and streets such as Nguyen Chi Thanh, Bach Dang, Chi Lang, Nguyen Gia Thieu, and Le Dai Hanh… were rapidly flooded, isolating many households.

Amidst heavy rain and raging floodwaters, the Phu Xuan Ward Police force became a steadfast support for the people. Throughout the night, dozens of officers and soldiers were mobilized, coordinating with local security forces to brave the strong currents and evacuate residents from low-lying areas to safety.

“On the evening of October 27th, floodwaters rose, trapping my parents inside their house in area 343 along the Perfume River. Fortunately, local police officers arrived promptly, braving the cold, fast-flowing water to dive into the floodwaters, find and unlock the door, and safely rescue my parents. Without them, we wouldn't know what to do,” shared the son of Ms. Phan Thi Gai, a resident who received assistance from the Phu Xuan Ward Police during the floods.

In addition to relocating residents, the Phu Xuan Ward Police also transported pregnant women to the hospital for safe childbirth amidst the floods and coordinated with the Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital to move 50 patients from facility 2 to facility 1 when the water level rose too high. Despite the rain, wind, and cold water, the officers persevered in their duties for many days, ensuring that no resident was left behind.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Tuan Viet, Head of Phu Xuan Ward Police, shared: “Phu Xuan area has the unique characteristic of having many low-lying areas, where water rises very quickly when it rains heavily. The ward police force always prioritizes staying close to the community and promptly rescuing and supporting people in all situations.”

The rain has stopped, the water has receded, but the traces of the flood remain on every wall and every muddy road. Immediately after the disaster passed, police officers from Phu Xuan ward continued to go down to each residential area, helping people clean up their houses, sanitize the environment, and assist in repairing electricity, water, and school systems. They worked alongside the residents, hauling away garbage bags, shoveling mud, providing food and water to needy households, and encouraging people to return to normal life as soon as possible.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Bang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Xuan Ward, assessed: "The ward police force is the core force, bravely working both during and after natural disasters. The image of the officers staying close to the people and the local area, regardless of the hardships, clearly demonstrates the 'serving the people' spirit of the police force."

Life in Phu Xuan is gradually returning to normal. Schools are reopening, markets are operating again... Throughout this journey, the Phu Xuan Ward Police force continues to work alongside the government, the people, and the entire force to help residents stabilize their living conditions, maintain security and order, prevent the risk of disease outbreaks, and ensure the safety of each household.
