According to Lai Chau Power Company, the unit managing and operating the electricity supply from the national power grid system, the project includes over 440km of 110kV power lines, 2,200km of 22 and 35kV medium-voltage power lines, 1,900km of low-voltage power lines, and 1,100 distribution transformers.
With many power lines passing through natural forests, planted forest areas managed by forest protection boards, and production forests of rubber companies, coupled with the rapid urbanization in centers from communes and districts to provinces, there is a high risk of residential constructions encroaching on power line corridors.
Tan Uyen Power Company (PC Lai Chau) conducts awareness campaigns on electrical safety and energy conservation at schools.
Over the years, the management of power grid safety protection corridors and the minimization of violations within high-voltage power grid safety corridors have been assessed and identified by Lai Chau Power Company as one of the most important aspects of power grid operation management.
However, recently, violations of high-voltage power line corridors have continued to occur, such as climbing onto power lines to steal property, fishing near or under high-voltage power lines, posing a potential risk of accidents and safety hazards to people and equipment, and disrupting power supply.
Phong Tho Power Company (PC Lai Chau) conducts a campaign to raise awareness about electrical safety among the local people.
Mr. Vo Manh Hong, Deputy Director of Lai Chau Power Company, said: "In the past period, Lai Chau Power Company has made efforts and focused on implementing many solutions."
This includes focusing on disseminating information about high-voltage power line corridor safety and electrical safety among the public (especially in areas where power lines pass through densely populated areas) through mass media; directing subordinate power companies to coordinate effectively with local authorities and the Steering Committee for the Protection of High-Voltage Power Line Corridors at all levels to organize awareness campaigns in communes, wards, villages/hamlets; distributing leaflets at schools; sending documents to local authorities to coordinate awareness campaigns, and using personal mobile loudspeakers translated into many local ethnic languages such as Hmong, Dao, Thai, etc.
The propaganda content focuses primarily on guiding and advising people on measures to prevent electrical accidents; how to use electricity safely, economically, and efficiently; and protecting the safety of the power grid.
Specifically: Climbing power poles, substations, or trees under power lines to catch birds, shooting birds perched on power lines or substations, or throwing or tossing any object onto power lines or substations is strictly prohibited. Fishing near or under power lines or substations is strictly prohibited. Do not stand near power poles during rain or thunderstorms.
High-voltage power grid infrastructure must not be used for purposes other than those agreed upon with the high-voltage power grid infrastructure management unit.
Do not fly kites or other flying objects near high-voltage power lines. Absolutely do not attach or wrap power lines around trees, and do not use live power lines as clotheslines. Support points for power lines must be sturdy poles at least 4.5 meters high, and crossing points must be at least 5.5 meters high to ensure safe traffic distances.
The conductors are securely fixed to sturdy poles and tied to low-voltage insulators. Avoid bundling conductors from multiple households together to prevent a problem in one house from affecting another. Conductors should not have more than two splices within a single pole span.
Regularly inspect electrical systems and equipment; disconnect circuit breakers in case of short circuits; coordinate with the power company to immediately inspect and rectify any shortcomings in the supply and transmission of electricity in residential areas to consumers, preventing short circuits and fires from spreading from power lines to houses and markets. During peak hours, families should limit the simultaneous use of electrical appliances, especially those with high power consumption...
In addition, the company also organizes campaigns to promote safe, economical, and efficient electricity use in schools; coordinates with the Steering Committee for the Protection of High-Voltage Power Line Corridors in districts and cities, district and city youth unions, commune youth unions, and telecommunications companies such as Viettel and Vinaphone... to periodically organize quarterly campaigns to promote the protection of power line corridors and clear vegetation along high-voltage power line corridors in districts and cities, aiming to widely disseminate knowledge about electrical safety and the protection of high-voltage power line safety corridors to the people.
Muong Te Power Company (PC Lai Chau) launched a campaign to raise awareness about safety and clear vegetation along high-voltage power line corridors.
Specifically: In 2022, the entire company conducted awareness campaigns on safe and economical electricity use at 22 schools in the province, reaching nearly 13,000 students directly; and coordinated with district/city youth unions and local authorities to organize 32 campaigns to raise awareness and protect high-voltage power line corridors.
From the beginning of 2023 to the present, the units have coordinated with district/city youth unions and local authorities to organize 24 campaigns to promote awareness and protect high-voltage power line corridors; in addition, the youth union, the Veterans Association of the Company and its affiliated units have coordinated with other units to promote safe and economical electricity use to students through the "Supporting Students During Exams" program...
Maintaining and promoting awareness campaigns has become an important and regular task for every employee of Lai Chau Power Company. This has contributed to reducing power grid incidents caused by violations of power line corridors and minimizing electrical accidents among the public.
