EVNCPC General Director Ngo Tan Cu emphasized that EVNCPC is mobilizing maximum resources and personnel to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible, stabilizing the lives and production of people in Central Vietnam, but absolutely will not compromise safety for speed.
According to the EVNCPC Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command, as of 12:00 PM on October 29th, the entire system recorded 492 incidents and equipment outages due to the impact of rain and floods, of which 125 incidents have been restored.
Currently, 444,335 customers are still without electricity, accounting for 8.99% of the total number of customers in EVNCPC and 18.82% of customers belonging to the four power companies: Da Nang , Hue, Quang Ngai, and Quang Tri.

Across the region, 3,749 distribution substations have ceased operation (6.52% of the total number of substations), corresponding to an estimated power loss of approximately 252.6 MW (6.93% of EVNCPC's peak capacity).
Of these, Da Nang was the most severely affected: 230,899 customers and 2,045 transformer stations experienced disruptions.
Hue City still has 180,001 customers and 1,283 stations that are out of service.
In Quang Ngai province, 30,055 customers and 414 substations are still without power. In Quang Tri province, 240 customers and 7 substations in Trieu Phong commune have not yet had their power restored.
Most power outages were caused by the power company proactively cutting off electricity to prevent accidents in areas with severe flooding, which posed potential safety risks.
Mr. Ngo Tan Cu requested that all units be on duty 24/7, mobilizing maximum personnel, equipment, and materials; as soon as the water recedes, they should inspect and restore electricity immediately, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

The restoration of the entire power system will be completed within 3-5 days, depending on the extent of the impact in each area. At the same time, the Central Vietnam power sector is required to strengthen coordination with the government, police, and military in accessing areas still deeply flooded; and to intensify propaganda and guidance for people to follow electrical safety rules during floods.
EVNCPC will prioritize the urgent distribution of materials and equipment such as transformers, meters, wires, and switching equipment to units severely affected, especially in Hue and Da Nang cities. The Central Power Company and the Central Power Service Company are required to each deploy 50 staff and workers, along with two electrical testing teams, ready to provide assistance.
EVNCPC advises people to take note of the following: unplug electrical devices and switch off circuit breakers/automatic switches when water floods into the house; do not turn on the power yourself before the water has completely receded; do not touch electrical wires, poles, electrical cabinets, or wet areas suspected of having electrical leaks; if you discover broken wires or leaning poles, immediately report it to the local power company or the hotline 1900 1909.
