With its beautiful natural landscapes, numerous attractive and unique destinations, diverse cultures and regions, along with many preferential policies, visas, and convenient entry and exit procedures, Vietnam in general, and Quang Ninh in particular, is always a preferred destination for tourists from many countries and territories around the world to visit, relax, and experience.

Immediately after the Covid-19 pandemic, recognizing that tourism was a sector needing early recovery to contribute to the overall economic growth of the country and localities, many programs to promote, market, and connect tourism domestically and internationally were intensified. Along with this, numerous prestigious tourism awards from international organizations have attracted an increasing number of international tourists to Vietnam.

According to the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in September 2024 is estimated at nearly 1.3 million, an increase of 20.9% compared to the same period in 2023; in the third quarter of 2024, it is estimated at nearly 3.8 million, an increase of 17% compared to the same period; and for the first nine months of this year, it is estimated at over 12.7 million, an increase of 43% compared to the same period. For Quang Ninh province, from the beginning of the year to October 21st, the number of international visitors reached 3 million, mainly from China, South Korea, Taiwan, India, European countries, and the United States. This is an important milestone for Quang Ninh's efforts to overcome difficulties after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the recent Typhoon No. 3.

The positive results in attracting international tourists are due to Vietnam's visa policy being reformed in a more favorable direction, allowing tourists more time to experience and visit destinations, along with the strengthened and enhanced tourism promotion, marketing, and networking programs from the central level to each locality.

To achieve Vietnam's goal of welcoming 17-18 million international tourists in 2024, relevant ministries, sectors, and localities are continuing to improve visa policies, especially expanding the list of unilateral visa exemptions; boosting tourism promotion and marketing, seeking new tourist markets instead of focusing on a few traditional markets; organizing unique and attractive cultural, tourism, and entertainment events and programs; applying information technology, artificial intelligence, and promoting digital transformation in tourism; improving the quality of tourism products and tours, especially those based on exploiting traditional cultural values; encouraging tourist spending; extending the length of stay of international tourists; and increasing tourism revenue.

To attract international tourists, along with other localities nationwide, Quang Ninh is also stepping up programs, events, promotions, and tourism connections. This includes focusing on attracting international tourists in the cruise sector.

With its synchronized and modern transportation infrastructure and seaports, along with a diverse range of attractive experiences, Quang Ninh is considered to have a competitive advantage in the cruise tourism market both domestically and in Southeast Asia. It is expected that from now until the end of 2024, Ha Long International Cruise Port will welcome 16 large cruise ships from world-renowned brands such as Mein Schiff 6, Celebrity Solstice, Noordam, etc., bringing thousands of international tourists from Europe, America, and China to Ha Long. During the 2024-2025 cruise season, approximately 60 cruise ships will arrive in Ha Long, carrying over 100,000 passengers, including many luxury cruise ships.

Along with the bustling international cruise ship season with many new shipping companies, Quang Ninh is also stepping up efforts to attract tourists from neighboring China, promoting and connecting with traditional markets such as South Korea, Taiwan (China), Asia, Europe, etc., and expanding its efforts to attract Indian tourists.

Despite the impact of Typhoon No. 3, with guaranteed service quality, Quang Ninh has earned the trust and affection of domestic and international tourists. Quang Ninh is striving to welcome 3.5 million foreign tourists in 2024, thereby contributing to the target of welcoming 17-18 million international tourists to Vietnam this year.
