Speeding up construction of Dong Trieu City Medical Center

Construction is expected to begin at the end of 2024. The project to renovate and build a new Dong Trieu City Medical Center is currently in the acceleration phase, striving to complete in November 2025, meeting the requirements of examination, treatment, protection and health care for the people.

The project blocks for renovation and new construction of Dong Trieu City Medical Center are being focused on implementation.

The project to renovate and build a new Dong Trieu City Medical Center has a total investment of 390 billion VND, the design scale includes building new 8-storey buildings to serve the treatment and medical examination with 235 beds; building 2 new 3-storey buildings to serve the infectious disease department with 30 beds and serve the activities of the disease control and community health departments... renovating the anti-infection building and some items of Dong Trieu City Medical Center...

After more than 4 months, the construction of new treatment and examination buildings; the infectious disease department and disease control department are all on schedule. In particular, the 8-storey main building has completed the roofing of the 5th floor. The joint venture is focusing on human resources to complete the construction of the rough structure before the rainy season.

Mr. Tran Thanh Phong, Head of Project Management Board, Southern 319 Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, said: With the current 8-storey building, the unit mobilized 90 workers to work on the construction site; at peak time, it will mobilize about 150 workers to soon complete and put the project into operation.

The 8-storey building serving medical treatment and examination with 235 beds has completed pouring the roof of the 5th floor.

According to the current construction progress, the joint venture of contractors completes one floor of each building block every week. The most difficult and complicated part of the construction is when completing the technical items of the rooms. And to ensure the progress of the entire project, the investor has requested the contractors to strengthen coordination in the construction steps, striving to complete the project and hand over the project for use in November this year.

Mr. Pham Duc Dung, Project Supervisor, Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: Implementing the province's direction in disbursing public investment and finalizing projects before June 30, mobilizing workers and unskilled laborers in the area is very difficult. The unit requires contractors to increase the mobilization of human resources from other localities to the construction site to ensure 3-shift construction.

Currently, on average, each day, Dong Trieu City Medical Center receives, examines and treats about 7,000-8,000 outpatients and about 350-400 inpatients. When the project is completed, 235 more beds will be added, bringing the total number of beds at the center to 400. Doctor Le Ky Truong, Director of Dong Trieu City Medical Center, said: With the current facilities, Dong Trieu City Medical Center is often overloaded. Therefore, adding more treatment blocks and beds will create conditions for the unit to fully implement health care work for people in Dong Trieu as well as neighboring areas. To ensure the progress of the project, in addition to arranging the premises, the unit will arrange the beds and propagate to each patient so that the contractor can organize 3 continuous shifts without affecting the examination and treatment work of the people. Officials, doctors and people in the area look forward to the project's completion every day, gradually improving facilities, attracting good doctors to implement advanced techniques, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and promoting the role of grassroots health care.
