Creating a "launching pad" for student entrepreneurship.

Agencies, units, and universities in the city have been carrying out many activities to support and promote the scientific research and entrepreneurship movement among students, resulting in the creation of numerous research topics and projects that meet market demands.

Universities are increasingly playing a crucial role as breeding grounds for scientific research projects and startup ideas. For example, the project "BINKS - Plant-Based Ink - A New Direction for Green Agriculture " by a group of students from the Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Training (University of Da Nang) won first prize in the 6th "Student Startup Ideas Competition - 2024" held in May 2024. The BINKS team leader, student Tran Nhan Kiet, shared: “Our team received comprehensive support from the university from the very beginning of our idea. The guidance of associate professors and doctors played a crucial role in directing research and product development for BINKS. Beyond technical support, the university also organized workshops and shared experiences, providing students with a business perspective. We actively participated in these activities and gained many valuable lessons about entrepreneurship and business development. Furthermore, the university's connection with the business community opened up many opportunities, allowing us not only to learn valuable experiences but also to build a network of relationships within the industry.”

Established in October 2006, the Economic Entrepreneurship Club of the Student Union of the University of Economics (Da Nang University) has maintained vibrant activities for nearly 18 years. To date, the club has established a strong position within the Da Nang student community and has collaborated with numerous businesses. With nearly 100 active members, the club is part of the entrepreneurship ecosystem of Da Nang city and the country as a whole. The club has organized many competitions such as “Business Arena 2024 - Unwrap your power”, “Creative Ideas - Elevating the Image”, and recruitment networking programs like “I Choose You - Hold your chance to change”,…

According to Mr. Huynh Quoc Hung, head of the Economic Entrepreneurship Club, the club's development orientation is to cultivate leadership and entrepreneurial thinking skills in its members. This focuses on skills and experience, gained through work experience, classroom knowledge, and shared experiences within the club. From this, opportunities are created for members to experience the real business environment, while also facilitating the implementation of entrepreneurial projects and personal development.

To provide a practical platform for developing startup projects, many competitions have been organized, becoming an "incubator" for young people to unleash their creativity and showcase their abilities. At the end of July 2028, the final round of the UniHack 2024 competition, organized by the Google Developer Student Club (part of the University of Technology - Da Nang University) and Google Developer Group Cloud Da Nang, took place. The competition, open to students passionate about technology and programming in the Central region, attracted over 30 teams and a total of 120 registered participants. Simultaneously, the final round of the Beehive Startup Challenge 2024 student startup competition, held at the end of July, was organized by FPT Polytechnic Da Nang in collaboration with the Lien Chieu District Youth Union. The competition aims to promote innovative startup ideas, enhancing the application of science and technology across diverse fields including: biotechnology, handicraft development, media, healthcare, and manufacturing, with a focus on positive social impact.

Over the past period, the Da Nang City Youth Union has implemented a comprehensive range of practical activities aimed at promoting the "Youth Innovation" movement; fostering and supporting creative and entrepreneurial activities among young union members; and creating opportunities for ideas to be expressed and realized. Specifically, the City Youth Union organized the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival; the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ideas/Light Up Your Creativity competition; and the city-level "Startup Project for Rural Youth" competition. In addition, the City Youth Union collaborated with the Department of Science and Technology to organize the annual Student Scientific Research Competition.

According to Mr. Le Cong Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union, through these competitions, the quality of startup ideas and projects among students, young people, and youth union members has improved and been highly appreciated by businesses. With the participation of a large number of youth union members in the city, the competitions have encouraged and promoted the development of entrepreneurial spirit, career building, and participation in economic development among young people.
