At Phong Chau bridge on the Lam Thao district side, 5 large crawler excavators have been assembled. These vehicles have the logo of the 12th Army Corps and Truong Son Construction Corporation on them.

Outside the demolition preparation area, iron fences are being installed to ensure safety for the construction area. The administrative building has also been formed.

Mr. Tran Hoai Giang, Director of Phu Tho Department of Transport, said that the dismantling of the remaining part of Phong Chau Bridge is part of the overall bidding package for the construction of the new Phong Chau Bridge. This project is invested by the Thang Long Project Management Board, Ministry of Transport .

Mr. Giang added that the project is expected to start construction on December 22.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport decided to approve the investment project to build a new Phong Chau bridge under the emergency construction order, in order to promptly handle the Phong Chau bridge collapse on September 9.

According to the newly approved Phong Chau bridge construction plan, the bridge will be nearly 653m long, with a total investment of more than 635 billion VND from the central budget reserve in 2024. Of which, it is expected to allocate about 100 billion VND in 2024 and about 535 billion VND in 2025.

The bridge is permanently built with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete with a bridge width of 20.5m suitable for the width of the roadbed.
