The goal is for Ho Chi Minh City's science and technology activities to create truly effective value, go in-depth, and encourage the entire ecosystem to participate in research and application.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, stated: "The 2026 Green and Circular Technology Techmart aims not only to introduce technologies, but more importantly, to create conditions for businesses to access solutions that can be practically applied, suitable to their production conditions and investment costs."

The highlight of this year's Techmart is the technologies that help businesses reduce operating costs, save energy, utilize by-products, and improve production efficiency in a circular economy. Businesses also have the opportunity to directly interact with experts, research institutes, universities, and suppliers to receive advice on solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Within the framework of the event, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology signed cooperation agreements with the Departments of Science and Technology of Ca Mau, Dak Lak, and Dong Nai provinces. This activity contributes to expanding the inter-regional technology linkage network, continuing previous cooperation in data sharing and connecting the Technology Exchange Platform with Gia Lai, Dong Thap, and Tay Ninh.

Experts provide direct consultation at the Techmart consultation area, assisting businesses in selecting suitable green technology solutions.

According to Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, as a major science, technology, and innovation center of the country, Ho Chi Minh City aims to make the City's Technology Exchange Platform a hub for sharing data on technology, equipment, experts, research results, and technology needs among localities. This will enable businesses to access suitable solutions more quickly, expanding opportunities for technology transfer and commercialization on a regional scale.

In addition to the exhibition, Techmart 2026 also features 15 thematic workshops showcasing technology, focusing on topics such as biodegradable materials, AIoT in smart factory management, solar power, energy optimization, resource recovery from wastewater, agricultural waste treatment, green logistics, and solutions serving the Net Zero goal.

The event also marked the signing of technology and equipment transfer contracts. Specifically, Thien An Protective Equipment Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited and Vietnam Solar Energy Technology Joint Stock Company signed a contract for the transfer of a rooftop solar power system with an expected capacity of approximately 125 kWp.

Investing for the future

Despite the growing need for green transformation, many businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), remain hesitant due to cost pressures, lack of information, and the absence of suitable implementation models.

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Vu Bich Hanh - Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Environment and Resources, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, stated: "The biggest 'bottleneck' today is not that businesses are unaware of the green development trend or ESG, but mainly due to a lack of data, a lack of suitable models, and concerns about initial investment costs."

According to Associate Professor Dr. Dang Vu Bich Hanh, many businesses lack sufficient basis to assess the effectiveness of investment, payback period, and the actual impact of technology on productivity and operating costs. Meanwhile, the increasing demands for traceability, emission reduction, data transparency, and green standards from international markets make businesses both eager to switch and apprehensive about the risks involved in implementation.

From a professional perspective, she believes that green transformation should be viewed as a long-term investment, rather than an additional cost. Smart energy management solutions, AIoT, and automated control systems can help businesses reduce electricity consumption and factory operating costs. Technologies that utilize by-products, recycle waste, or use bio-materials not only reduce environmental pressure but also create new value-added products.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Vu Bich Hanh
In fact, many green technology solutions introduced at the event not only serve environmental goals but also directly help businesses reduce energy and raw material costs, manage waste, and optimize operational efficiency.

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Vu Bich Hanh stated: "When the right solutions are chosen and a suitable roadmap is in place, green transformation is not an expense, but a foundation for businesses to develop stably and profitably in the long term."

Speaking from the perspective of participating businesses, Ms. Bui Ngoc Le, CEO of Deep Pro Technology Group JSC, said: "Techmart is an opportunity for businesses to directly access green technology solutions with practical applications, suitable for production needs and operating conditions. In the context of increasing demands for energy saving, emission reduction, and ESG, businesses need technologies that are both technically efficient and cost-effective, as well as feasible to implement."

Ms. Bui Ngoc Le expects that the business networking space at Techmart will not only help businesses promote their products, but also open up substantive connections with experts, research institutes, universities, and technology partners. The event is an opportunity for businesses to survey market needs, update on new trends, and seek cooperation opportunities in the future.

Commenting on the role of innovation, Ms. Dinh Ngoc Van Phuong - Business Director of Vietnam Solar Energy Technology Joint Stock Company - stated: "Technology is no longer an encouraged option, but has become a decisive factor in the competitiveness of businesses."

The signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology and other localities took place within the framework of the Techmart Green and Circular Technology 2026.

According to Ms. Dinh Ngoc Van Phuong, investing in technology helps businesses optimize production processes, save energy, reduce operating costs, improve product quality, and increase adaptability to market fluctuations. For ESG, technology plays a crucial role in data management, traceability, emission control, and transparency in production activities.

With a series of exhibitions, seminars, expert consultations, and technology transfer agreements, the Techmart Green and Circular Technology 2026 contributes to promoting the science and technology market in a synchronized, efficient, and sustainable direction. More importantly, the event helps businesses see more clearly the path to green transformation: not only to meet standards, but also to enhance competitiveness and long-term development.

Techmart is an annual event organized by the Center for Statistical Information and Application of Advanced Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City (CISAST, under the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City) to support the marketing of products from associations, trade promotion offices, and technology enterprises, serving the needs of applying technology in the production and business activities of enterprises.
