New Year's Day 2026: Many major tourist destinations are officially fully booked.

With a four-day holiday, destinations like Lo Lo Chai, Sa Pa, and Mang Den recorded occupancy rates of up to 100%, making it difficult for tourists to book services at the last minute.

The official announcement of the 4-day New Year's Day holiday in 2026 (from January 1st to January 4th, 2026) has strongly boosted tourism . However, the fact that the information was released so close to the date left many tourists unprepared, as popular accommodations were already fully booked.

Lo Lo Chai: The allure of its World Tourism Village title.

Lo Lo Chai (Lung Cu commune, Tuyen Quang province) is currently the center of attention after being announced as one of the best tourist villages in the world in 2025. According to statistics from Mr. Tran Duc Chung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lung Cu commune, all 106 guesthouses and homestays in the area, with more than 1,000 rooms, were fully booked a month before the holiday.

Lo Lo Chai has been attracting tourists for the past two months, ever since it was announced as the "World's Best Tourist Village 2025".

Besides its international accolades, Lung Cu will also host the Cherry Blossom Festival on January 3rd, featuring many unique cultural activities. The commune expects to welcome approximately 3,000-5,000 visitors during this period, creating an unprecedented demand for accommodation.

Sa Pa and Mang Den are experiencing a simultaneous surge in service demand.

In the northern region, Sa Pa (Lao Cai) also recorded a surge in bookings, currently reaching about 80% capacity. The effect of snowfall on Fansipan peak during Christmas, along with the demand for valley getaways, has caused accommodations with beautiful views to quickly become fully booked or significantly increase prices.

Similarly, in Mang Den commune (Quang Ngai province), representatives from the Center for Culture, Sports, Tourism and Communication stated that 90% of the total 1,500 accommodation rooms have been fully booked. From January 1st to 4th, 2026, the Mang Den Culture and Tourism Week and Cherry Blossom Season will take place here, featuring highlight events such as a hot air balloon festival and a food fair.

The trend of independent travel using personal vehicles.

Due to the last-minute announcement of the holiday, booking flights, trains, or overseas tours has become difficult because the processing time for applications is insufficient. Representatives from travel companies such as Trang An Travel and BestPrice Travel confirmed that many New Year's Day tour packages were booked early or fully booked according to customer preferences.

Mr. Bui Thanh Tu, Marketing Director of BestPrice Travel, noted that tourists are now mainly shifting to independent travel by private car to destinations near their homes. For those who haven't booked accommodation yet, finding a place to stay at this time is a major challenge; many even have to accept staying in a different homestay each night to maintain their schedule.
