The 11 species of wild animals released back into the forest include: snapping turtle, giant land turtle, golden mountain turtle, three-ridged turtle, reticulated python, Burmese python, pig-tailed macaque, long-tailed macaque, clouded monitor lizard, small-clawed otter, and Javan pangolin.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department, these animals all belong to Group IIB in the list of endangered and rare forest animals, and were mostly voluntarily handed over by the public. After being received from the public, they were taken to the Wildlife Rescue Station in Cu Chi District for rescue and temporary care.
Healthy wild animals that meet the necessary conditions will be released back into the natural forest, near streams, with sufficient food and water, suitable to the species' living characteristics. Before release, authorities surveyed the location and assessed the natural forest environment to ensure the animals could survive well.
The authorities advise people to immediately report any rare or dangerous wild animals that have escaped from their enclosures to the local government. Those who raise wild animals and wish to hand them over to the authorities should contact the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department for assistance and processing.
