The Tuong Phong village cultural center was built primarily with funds contributed by the local people.
Tuong Phong village has 247 households, mainly belonging to the Muong ethnic minority. In the process of building new rural areas, the village has mobilized contributions from the people to build basic cultural facilities. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bien, one of the families who has made significant contributions to the construction of village cultural facilities, said: "Aware of my responsibility in building new rural areas in general and cultural facilities in particular, I voluntarily contributed funds along with other villagers to build the village cultural house. Seeing the village cultural house built in a spacious and modern style, providing a place for people to meet and socialize, I am very happy to have contributed my efforts to building my homeland. In the future, I will encourage everyone in my family to do more practical things to improve the cultural house grounds to make them greener, cleaner, and more beautiful, and actively participate in protecting the village's cultural facilities."
Village head Quách Văn Bắc of Tượng Phong shared: "To fund the construction of the cultural center, the village requested the commune's approval to mobilize contributions from the people. After receiving the commune's agreement, the village organized a meeting to gather opinions and received the people's support. After a period of campaigning and persuasion, households in the village contributed nearly 1 billion VND. In addition to cash contributions, the people also contributed hundreds of days of labor. Currently, the village cultural center is a spacious building with an area of 288 square meters and 240 seats. Since its opening, the cultural center has been effectively used by the people, becoming a meeting place and activity center for amateur arts clubs and sports clubs."
Recognizing that building cultural and sports facilities is crucial for improving the spiritual life of the people, the People's Committee of Thach Quang commune annually conducts inspections and reviews to accurately assess the current state of cultural facilities and develops plans and allocates funds to support villages in building cultural houses, equipment, and grounds. Following the motto "The State and the People work together," during the implementation of building grassroots cultural facilities, the commune has actively mobilized households to contribute labor to the construction, upgrading, and repair of these facilities. Simultaneously, it has directed villages to establish community monitoring committees and ensure transparency in the collection and expenditure of contributions from the people as well as funds supported by the State. According to statistics from the People's Committee of the commune, from 2022 to the present, the commune has upgraded and repaired the grounds and fences of many cultural houses and built six new cultural houses.
Currently, all 22 villages in the commune have cultural centers fully equipped to serve the needs of the people. Building on these achievements, the commune will continue to mobilize resources from the people to renovate and repair the cultural centers, expand the grounds, and purchase additional sports and exercise equipment to meet the needs of the people.
