The challenge from the top 4 teams in Europe.

The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open Futsal Tournament will welcome a team that was once among the top four in Europe.

RSC Anderlecht, a Belgian futsal club, is one of Europe's leading futsal clubs, having won 8 national championships, 7 national cups, 5 Super Cups, and 2 Benecups. Despite its relatively young history, the club has participated in 10 UEFA competitions and reached the top 4 in 2023.

At the press conference on the afternoon of August 18th, coach Luca Craganaz stated: “It’s a pity that RSC Anderlecht couldn’t bring their strongest squad due to some key players being busy with the World Cup. However, with 5-6 players from other national teams present, I hope Anderlecht will perform at their best to create an exciting tournament.”

For his part, head coach Victor Acosta of Thai Son Bac believes that playing against a top European team will provide a lot of experience for the Vietnamese players.

Coach Luca Craganaz affirmed that SC Anderlecht will play with high determination.

Coach Tuan Anh, head coach of the national futsal champion club Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City, said: “RSC Anderlecht is a big team. The tournament will be an opportunity for Vietnamese players to learn many things, including top-level football skills.”

Four Vietnamese futsal teams, including Thai Son Nam, Sahako, Thai Son Bac, Savinest Khanh Hoa , and RCS Anderlecht, will compete in a single round-robin tournament at the Lanh Binh Thang Gymnasium (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City) from August 19th to 25th.

Teams will be ranked based on points to determine the champion, who will receive the championship trophy and a prize of $5,000 (approximately 125 million VND). The prizes for the second and third-place teams are $3,000 (approximately 75 million VND) and $2,000 (50 million VND) respectively, in addition to a $500 (12.5 million VND) prize for the fair play award.
