King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and the Thai Red Cross have launched a pilot program using robots to expedite administrative procedures in outpatient departments as part of an effort to improve public services at hospitals.
According to the Bangkok Post, the director of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Associate Professor Chanchai Sittipunt, said that five of these robots, known as Mr. SAM, will begin deployment in March of this year.
Robots will take over some of the tasks related to patient registration because they are equipped with cameras to assist with the registration process and can also provide basic information about the hospital.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Kornkiat Sanitwong, Deputy Director of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, assessed that robots are playing an increasingly important role in daily life, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to their ability to reduce the risk of infection and lessen the workload of medical staff and doctors.
